Summary

Limestone quarry with a wide variety of routes.

Description

Most routes are well protected but there are expections with long runouts so be careful. Difficulty ranges from 4a to 8a+ (IV to IX-) with most routes in the 4c to 6b range and only a few really difficult routes.

Since this is a former quarry, some parts can be unstable and rockfall is always an option so please wear a helmet.

Many routes have several names and "grades" so don't be surprised if different guidebooks show different information. Here we try to be reasonable and mostly stick to the most recent guidebook (Dunazug Szikláin) but with a few corrections.

Access issues

The quarry is located in an environmental protection area. It happens from time to time that climbing is prohibited at certain parts of the crag due to nesting birds but then the affected areas are usually well marked. Otherwise climbing is allowed throughout the year.

Approach

It is located at the border of Budapest, right after leaving the city towards Üröm. Relatively close to the city, still easiest to approach by car. By public transport you may travel with H5 suburban and depart at Csillaghegy station. The crag is about 15 minutes on foot.
