theCrag provides a rock climbing information service ("theCrag Service") based on community collaborated content. theCrag Service is owned and operated by Megari Solutions Pty Ltd (ACN: 090 494 698). Service provides a website under the domain name "", and distributes information through publications, mobile apps and other websites. Service may be provided through third party organisations.

theCrag Service is available for your use only on condition that you agree to these terms of use. By accessing/using any application, publication or website associated with theCrag Service, you are signifying your agreement to be bound by these terms.

Dangerous nature of content

theCrag Service covers content for rock climbing. Rock climbing is extremely dangerous and can result in serious injury or death. Users acting on any information directly or indirectly available from this site do so at their own risk.

By using theCrag Service you acknowledge that the material described is extremely dangerous, and that the content may be misleading or wrong.

In aggregating content theCrag Service does not verify or validate the accuracy of any information that has been provided by publications, websites or members, nor does theCrag Service imply that any publication or website listed is fit for a particular purpose or merchantable.

There may be errors (typographical, systematic or semi-systematic) in the content whereby the information presented may not be accurate. Examples of some of these errors include climb grades represented as easier then they are quoted in a publication, climb height being less than quoted, protection rating missing or misleading, or route gear style being wrong.

It is recommended that you review multiple guidebooks and consult with local climbers to verify information presented by theCrag Service.

Ratings of difficulty and protection may be subjective and depend on the physical attributes, fitness, experience and confidence of the climber who supplied the rating.

Often climbs are harder then the ratings suggest for various reasons.

You should use your own judgement as to a routes difficulty and your ability to protect yourself from the risks of rock climbing.

There are no warranties, express or implied, as to the accuracy or reliability of information presented by theCrag Service. There are no warranties as to the fitness for purpose of any information presented by theCrag Service.

Your use of theCrag Service indicates your assumption of the risk that it may contain errors and an acknowledgement of your own sole responsibility for your climbing safety.

Where theCrag Service suggests routes, it does so using statistics and algorithms which may from time to time make inappropriate suggestions, in particular suggesting routes of higher difficulty rating or more dangerous protection rating then you would normally climb.


theCrag is being translated in many languages. The default and official language for theCrag is English. If you are using theCrag in other languages then you agree to use theCrag knowing that the translations may not be complete and may have errors.

Non-English versions of this terms of use are provided for the convenience of the end user, however you agree that any disputes will use the English version of the current terms and conditions which can be found at

Acceptable Content

You will not use theCrag to do, or to document, anything unlawful, misleading, malicious, or discriminatory.

You may not submit information which is offensive or derogatory to an individual or group in society.

If you do submit offensive or derogatory information it will be cleansed from the database and your ongoing access to the database may be discontinued.

theCrag Service management reserves the right to decide what is and is not acceptable content.

If you come across offensive or derogatory information provided by theCrag Service then you should contact theCrag Service management. Please note that information is sometimes cached and/or used in offline mode on various platforms; in which case it may take some time for removed information to be taken off all distribution channels.

You may not submit information from a third party source unless you have express permission from the copyright owner.

Modifications to the Terms

theCrag Service may revise and update these terms of use at any time. You will be notified if these terms change when you login using standard user name and password on the website. It is your responsibility to otherwise check for changes in the terms and conditions. Your continued usage of theCrag Service after any changes to these terms of use will mean you accept those changes.

User Contributions

Standard users contributing to theCrag Service are required to grant broad permissions to, and the general public to re-distribute and re-use your contributions.

As a standard user, submissions you make to theCrag Service will be released to the public and 3rd parties under the Creative Commons - Attribution Non-Commecial Share Alike (CC-NCSA) license (theCrag Service also reserves the right to offer this content under alternate licenses). theCrag Service supports mixed copyright, which means that non-standard user contributions from publishers may fall under other copyright arrangements. Submissions made on behalf of publishers will be released under the publisher copyright.

theCrag Service is a collection of micro works. Hundreds of contributions from different climbers may be combined to provide a collective community work for one area, under the administration of theCrag Service.

For standard users, all content that is covered by intellectual property rights ("IP content"), you also specifically give us, subject to your account settings, the following permission: you grant a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license in perpetuity to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with ("IP License").

This will allow to explore other revenue channels (eg i-phone app and other collaborative projects). If you would rather contribute to as a publisher under a different arrangement instead of as a standard user, please contact us.

Inactive accounts may be discontinued.

Limitation of Liability
