Logging Multiple Ascents
Finally it's here, one of the most asked for improvements to the site - multiple ascents. Now when you repeat a climb you can record each climb ascent seperately, making it easier to record your climbs at the end of a trip.
Previously to record repeat climb ascents you had to add it to the comments of an earlier ascent or not bother. Yeh, I would have whinged about this limitation as well. I found it very frustrating not being able to record all my ascents, it just didn't feel right. It's taken way to long to get this feature on to the site.
Believe it or not we have had a project running for the last 15 months to improve the site with muliple ascents. Although it was only about 4 weeks solid work, we have had to take time off payed work or weekends to fit it in.
The nice thing about the multiple ascents feature is it actually simplifies adding your ascents. When you add an ascent the site automatically adds it as a second ascent if you have previously recorded an ascent. Figure 1 shows how you can add first or repeat ascents. Whenever a there is a list of climbs in the site tick the checkboxes (as shown in red) next to the climb and then select the Add Climbs button (also shown in red). After this follow the prompts.

Figure 2 shows the page where you view, update and delete existing ascents for a climb. To get to this page simply click on the tick icon whenever it appears (for example a tick icon is shown in blue in Figure 1).

In your tick lists the site will show the most recent ascent unless you tell specify an older ascent.
We have integrated muliple ascents into the statistics providing additional statistics for Ascent Count, Repeat Count, and Unique Meters Climbed.
The calculations for Quality Score and Crag Score have been changed. See Quality Score and Crag Score article. In particular repeat ascents contribute to your overall Crag Score, but not as much as the intial ascent.
Well now I can focus on the next big issue - site performance, we hope to have some improvements soon.
