Crag Snapshot
The Crag Snapshot is a summary of key area statistics in a two page PDF document. This is a premium feature for the site. Site supporters can generate a snapshot from almost any area in the index.
Along with key Crag Planners (eg 80 highest quality and 80 busiest climbs) this document is a useful tool when visiting new areas. These documents give you the ability to focus on the best and busiest climbs for an area.
Figure 1 shows a partial screen shot (download full sample).

If you are planning a trip, the graphs quickly show you the number of climbs at your target grade(s), the grades that others are predominately climbing, seasonality of climbing, predominant style, and overall quality of the climbs in the area.
Statistics presented in the document are based on available information in the index of climbs including ticks by members. The quality of the statistics improve over time, as a greater portion of the climbing community record their ticks. Especially for areas recently indexed the information in the document may get out-of-date very quickly. DO NOT USE A CRAG SNAPSHOT IF IT IS MORE THAN 3 MONTHS OUT OF DATE.
Like most features on the site this report is available for different grading systems (eg YDS vs Ewbanks), and imperial or metric.
Within the document stars are assigned to climbs, using the climbs Quality Score. Quality Score is based on member contributed quality ratings (seven point scale from 'Crap' to 'Mega Classic') and climb comments. Note that while thecrag.com's index is relatively new in any area, climbs may not have a Quality Rating score assigned. Over time, as more climbers use index, climbs will eventually be assigned a Quality score.
Please note that where climbs area equally ranked (eg may be 3 hardest climbs of the same grade), one will be picked. There are currently no override mechanisms, if the climbing community disagrees with this choice.
BTW, the document is interactive, click on a climb name and information about the climb will appear in your browser[1].
