Privacy Policy Personal details (including email address) are not passed on to any third party unless explicitly requested by the user, required to by law or as the direct fulfillment of the offered service. Site management reserves the right to send emails to its members. In particular site management send a quarterly email titled 'Postcards from the Crag: #X'. Membership cancellations must be requested in writing (email is fine). See the Cancellation Procedure. The site uses Cookies. Site access will be restricted if your browser does not accept Cookies from www.thecrag.com. The site's use of Cookies includes storing your account name and your encrypted password you use to login (or visiting account if you are visiting another climbers account). Cookies are stored either for the duration of your Internet session or for a number of weeks (currently set to 104). Cookies are used solely to deliver the service offered at www.thecrag.com and are not passed on to any third parties. Once received by the server, passwords are one-way encrypted. This means that we cannot tell you your password even if you ask us. Cookies use the encrypted password. The site does not use a secure shell for login and therefore your login request will be transferred unencrypted over the public Internet before it is encoded on our site. It is therefore recommended that you use a different password from all your other passwords. Do NOT use your bank PIN or other important passwords. Site users may opt to have their account available for others to view via a read-only access. Site users may also opt to have their account listed in public directories and other community initiatives. The user, through an online interface may disable both the read-only and the public directories options. www.thecrag.com may use account information for deriving aggregate statistical information. For example, www.thecrag.com uses climb ticks of all accounts for deriving most popular climbs. www.thecrag.com may target internal services, commercial offers, or advertising based on account information. In such a case, www.thecrag.com will NOT transfer personal information, that identifies you, to any third party. (For example we may make a commercial offer to beginner climbers, on behalf of another organization, but we will NOT supply the details of who we made the offer to). |
