Definitely deserves more stars. First 2 pitches are good on their own, and the 3rd is the money. Probs best to rap off here - we went up the 4th before deciding the stuff on Insurrection Wall would be a nicer use of our time.

First time that I climbed the last two pitches and the 24 variant.. Idk about p6 - it's very wandery and chossy and a pain to abseil from. I would - like last time - finish after p4 and abseil back down.

Loved pitches 2 and 3 (💪) , and the chimney on pitch 4! Pitch 6 had a fun very short chimney, but it was a pain to rap back down the route (ropes hard to pull off the top).

Fun route up often uninspiring rock. A hung up rope on the rappel down Airtime made for a lame end to the day. Hitch cord was the MVP — asymmetric prusiks rock!

We only climbed p1-4; p5 & 6 sound like a hassle and not worth it. p2-4 were real fun! All routes are nicely bolted (no risky run outs), 2-3 cruxy exposed moves on p3, but all well protected.

We used an 80 m rope; abseiling without issues; (make sure to rap down p4 closer to the 24 than the 17, otherwise you might get stuck), we used the anchor of Leaving on a Jet Plan (straight down p2 instead of traversing over to first anchor of Banished). Sun til about 12.30. Great day!

Made an early start hoping to beat the heat and although we lucked out with cloud coverage and a good breeze, our early arrival meant a very damp first pitch from showers during the evening.

The black lichen of pitch 1 was like climbing wet glass and required some French free climbing for the first three bolts. Beyond the tree line was nice and dry, particularly after the sun hit. I'll certainly be back to retry the first pitch in the dry, as it seemed like it would otherwise be enjoyable.

The route was climbed using a pair of 60m doubles, clipped as twins. We descended via Airtime Over Pumicestone without issue.

Pitch notes:

  1. Avoid if damp

  2. Loose blocks are perched just to the right of the line as you reach the white headwall.

  3. The rock straight off the belay, particularly to the right, is very friable. Be cautious of what you commit your weight to. The anchor at the top of this pitch is obscured from view as you exit the cave. You will need to trend back right after pulling over it. The crux of this pitch is not within the cave itself, nor exiting it, but getting above the lip of the roof. At 183cm I found it to be no harder than Ross Miller Route's crux pitch at 19, but my 153cm second suggested otherwise.

  4. The chimney is fun! Beware the bee hive beyond the chimney. You can skirt around it quite readily.

  5. Very straightforward and much easier than 16 in my opinion.

  6. Wedged / resting blocks sit just above the belay, watch what you pull on!

I really enjoyed the 3rd pitch, even though I stuffed the onsight by grabbing a draw when I really didn't need to. Ha ha. Great exposed climbing on that pitch. We only climbed 4 pitches though. One day I'll do the entire route. It's a shame this climb isn't setup for a better descent - took a bit of stuffing about to get off it.

Great route - however on the Crux of the 24 pitch (5th draw) we pulled a left hand pocket off the wall - felt more like a 25/26 now - regrading may be needed - we traversed to do the 17 variant -bees active but not aggressive on that pitch - great day out!

Faark. Climbing was fine, the 20 is outstanding, but DO NOT attempt the rap with a single 60m rope. Or if you do, be ready for an epic and take note of the following things...

1st Rap: Basically what you have is a really shit line for the rope with heaps of snag hazards (rocks trees cracks etc) and multiple redirects. After setting ours up with great care, we found ourselves dangling 3m above the anchors of the 4th pitch. Great. Not wanting to solo downclimb on dodgy rock, we climbed back up to see if there was more direct way to route the rope and eek out a few meters. Halfway up we also realized our rope was stuck. So we climbed up, unstuck it, and saw that there might be a more direct line for the rope, but it required a big traverse, more snag hazards, and the risk of a big swing if the rope flicked over whatever you were using to redirect... We ended up rapping and traversing back to the top of the 5th pitch instead of the 4th.

2nd Rap: Basically just traverse to the right along the climb, rap down into some bushes, and traverse to the anchors (top of 4th pitch). Don't ping off and swing!! At this point in our adventure the Sun was setting.

3rd Rap: The description says to trend left but also claims the abseil is pretty much a straight drop... It's not. TREND LEFT and note that the anchors are pretty hidden in a giant pocket in the rock. If you rap straight down you'll be stuck on an overhang with the end of your rope dangling into nothingness. You can't hear shit on this pitch (both climbing & rapping) so take phones or a radio.

4th Rap: Description is good

5th Rap: I only had a foot of rope left when we got to the midway chains... So make sure you set up with the exact middle of your 60m rope in the rings.

6th Rap: Sweet sweet ground, we hit it at 7:30pm. We started climbing at 12:50pm and got to the top at 4pm.

Oh, there is also an angry falcon and a bees nest around the 4th pitch.

Bringing a 70m rope would better suit the rap adventure. But honestly, the 5th/6th pitches are basically scrambles on shit rock, you're better off climbing 1-4 and rapping off. Even after unstucking our rope once on pitch 6, we felt it snag / unsnag at least twice on the shit pull down... And this is a real crap climb to rap off in the dark!

Actually though, the 20 is outstanding!!

Pitch one and two were lots of fun! Cool upper slider-like first pitch with lots of slopers. Straightforward second pitch with some particularly loose feeling death boulders, however third pitch is super chossy, had to carefully make my way through the overhung section to not shower my belayer in choss! Bailed after reaching the fourth pitch. Will definitely come back to finish the final few pitches.

Pitch 1, 3, 4 are epic and have some amazing moves with fun exposure. We did the 24 route from pitch 4.

So much loose rock and some death blocks that add some real spice to this multi. P2 was not great and if I do back I would not bother with the last two pitches.

Cool route, interesting climbing. Had heaps of fun on this adventure. Be careful of loose blocks and chossy ledges. There are a lot of bees on pitch 4 as well. We climbed to the right a bit and up into the bush to avoid them. Also description should say to rap straight down to the left from last anchor. Matt ended up in the obvious ‘vegetated gully’ on the right and had a near death experience with falling boulder 😅

Nice route, pitch 3 has quite interesting moves. We wanted to do the 17 variant of p4 on the right hand side but must have gone for the wrong anchor after the roof on p3. From the anchor we were on, the bolts on the 17 were waaay far to the right and below us, so we decided to do the 24 left hand variant instead. The hard reachy 24-move is beyond my skills so had to pull on a draw to get to the jug. When rapping off from Airtime, it's a good idea to saddlebag the ropes.

A fun adventure. Much more enjoyable than what some comments had us expecting. We mistakenly climbed Into Darkness as the first pitch 😁. Avoided wasps on the second. 3rd pitch was nice and exposed exiting the cave. I thought I had it in the bag but celebrated too soon... Dogged it a bit at the end. 4th pitch 17 variant was pretty good too. Some loose rock on the last pitches but avoidable with care.

The time it took to finally figure out where the climb starts was very worth it! Pretty easy climbing up to the caves on the 2nd pitch. The crux at the 3rd pitch certainly made me grow some manly climbers hairs! Having to delicately manoeuvre myself around the protruding rock with a 70 or so metre fall below me only demanded my attention to the rock, and made for the best buzz of adrenaline I've so far experienced when I actually got over the fear and clipped in! Unfortunately there was a wasps/bees nest halfway on pitch 4, and as I was belaying and couldn't see or hear the leader properly, and that we had to leave anyway, given I was happy with accomplishing the crux...we bailed and headed back down.

BE CAREFUL OF THE LOOSE ROCKS. I pulled away and safely threw down 3 large rocks which a climber could have easily accidentally dislodged and could have fallen straight onto the belayer.

Watch out for rappelling down from the 2nd to 1st pitch....its sketchy. When looking at the wall, you're having to traverse walk about 10-15 metres to the right of the anchors...,making for a big pendulum swing if you're not careful. Not sure if there are anchors directly below 2nd pitch anchors to rappel to in future?

Fun and adventurous outing. Not for the faint of heart, there is a fair bit of loose rock and some spaced bolts in some places. The beehive at 2/3 height on pitch 4 is still there and very active. I would strongly recommend doing only the first 3 pitches or trying the 24 pitch instead.

Adventurous and seems infrequently climbed. A mix of good rock and crazy exposure with lose rock, wasps, bee's hives and shoty trad gear. If you've done a bunch of Tibro routes, add it to your list.

Onsight first pitch only.

Got rained-off after the first pitch: Went out to do Black Orpheus but was soaking wet. BFI seemed to be the only dry start so threw ourselves at it. That “wee bit exciting” part is much more exciting when it’s damp/dank! Sheesh! Then started to rain, so had to bail off at the first chains. Looks like a sweet line though! Has anyone climbed the arete of the huge flake that houses Carbo Chimney? Looks amazing up there!

Great Climb! Spoiled by the a large bee hive on pitch 5. Had to climb off pitch up and around a tree on the right, awkward and time consuming to avoid the hive. Would recommend sending a bee keeper up there to remove the nest before next assent, or trad gear to get around the hive safely. Other than that, what a great climb!

Decent line, at least for the first three and a half pitches. The quality of the crux pitch is somewhat marred by the choss between the bottom anchor and the roof. We abseiled Airtime in 3 raps with double 60m ropes.

Nice day out - well-bolted all the way up. Pitch 3 is the stand out. After that it gets wandery and chossy. We did the grade 17 variant for pitch 4. I'd probably rap from the top of pitch 3 if I did it again, or give the 24 a go. Definitely take at least 2 extended draws, possibly more, and use liberally. Also take note of the start, we accidentally did the first pitch of remains of the day and traversed left for about 5m to get back on route from remains of the day anchors. We took up two ropes at rappelled in 4 sections. From top of pitch 6 to 4, then to the anchors of pitch 3. From there is a great rap down to top of pitch 1. It'd be awkward to rap it with only 1 rope. (Though you could possibly make 6 to 4 with a 70 or 80m rope.)

Dangerous, chossy and convoluted to rap. A hold pulled off in my hand, and I have to climb with far too much caution of the loose rock for it to be fun.

Absolute choss-fest from midway through the second pitch until the top.

The crux moves on pitch 3 were great. The exposure and position is incredible and the wind blasting around the face gave it an "out there" feeling, but these ~2 bolts of climbing are the only reason I didn't rate this route "Don't Bother" or even "Crap".

With a bit of work the first 3 pitches could be cleaned up to make this a nice route. I can't speak for the grade 24 pitch-4 variant, but I would definitely not do the top 3 pitches every again.

Rapping down with a single 60m rope was an absolute pain too. To the aspiring chossateer: Take two ropes! Rapping back down the route took 6 raps (the description claims you can make it from the Airtime anchors to the start of pitch 4 but this was no way possible). Some pitches required traversing raps using quickdraws to hold the rope in place, fixing the rope to the next anchor and the second removing the draws. And pitch 4 requires an overhanging rap a few metres past the anchor and then scrambling back up.

Pitch 2 can be rapped straight downwards and join the Leaving On a Jet Plan chains rather than rapping the traversing pitch 2.

Fun but kinda chossy. We abseiled down Air Over Pumicestone with 2x 60m ropes. Straight down the bushy gully for about 40m. Then small belay ledge on left. Again straight belay to anchors under a tiny overhang on right. This is a pretty uncomfortable belay, especially for 4 people. Rope probably would reach next set of rings. Then rap to ground.

The crux pitch (21) has an airy move out of the cave, and my reach made the crux move up to the belay ledge a bit harder. Will crush it next time.

Rapped with 2x60m ropes on the Airtime anchor, easy to the ground, but high chance to get rope stuck in the bushy gully.

Awesome.

Had to pull on draws to get over the grade 24 pitch 4b

Used 2x60m ropes and rapped in three pitches. Was an epic descent !

The route description needs to be updated. See my comment for a suggested route description update.

First day of multi pitching! Route is great in places, but lots of loose rock, vegetation and wandering pitches. Reached the top on sunset and rapped down by starlight, which was somewhat thrilling.

This was awesome, first two pitches were sloper after sloper felt a little scary but so much fun Easy up through the roof balancy move with huge exposure to get out to the bolt on the bulge And That's where it ended, couldnt get the next move down Can't wait to try again this may be my new favorite route

Oh left 2 draws up there if anyone is up there before I get another chance

Lead the first, third and fifth pitch. Lots of wasps nest on the second pitch but off line of bolts. Rapping down down via 'Airtime over Pumicestone' on a single 70m rope is not recommended.
