Grade Route Gear style Quality
Fri 23rd Oct 2020 - Mt Tibrogargan
Slider Wall
19 Something About Sandy - with Matthew Burt, Jack Kilsby Sport 13m, 5 Good
Gear back on for Matt. Tough little crux on this one; I used hard beta but worked out something better on the way down that Matt used to send.

Tue 13th Oct 2020 - Brooyar
Black Stump Buttresses
19 Beyond the Black Stump - with Matthew Burt Sport 15m Classic
Cleaning gear after Matt's onsight.

19 Footprints on the Other Side - with Matthew Burt Sport 18m, 6 Very Good
After Matt. Dad had one sit on this on TR.

Mon 12th Oct 2020 - Coolum Beach
The Prow Boulder
V1 Mal De Mer - with Matthew Burt, Dad Boulder 2m Very Good
Short but fun. Rock is coarse.

Sat 4th Jul 2020 - Kangaroo Point
Right Main Wall
19 Dysentery RHF - with Matthew Burt Sport 18m, 6 Very Good
Cleaning gear after Matt's cuisy redpoint, and Mum and Dad's TR attempts. They both did really well, doing most of the moves with just a few rests! So good to see them have a strong session on the rope!

Sat 6th Jun 2020 - Flinders Peak (limited access)
Sanctuary
19 Catastrophist - with Matthew Burt Sport 20m, 9 Very Good
Tricky crux into some great jug hauling to a great position at the top of the pillar.

Sat 23rd Nov 2019 - Kangaroo Point
Left Main Wall
19 19 R Arrow - with Matthew Burt Sport 18m, 4 Good
Actually not too bad. Start was interesting and not as hard as it looks from the ground. I slung the drill hole, but probably wouldn't feel the need now I know where the holds are. Middle section has some nice holds and movement. Almost stuffed the finish as I went too high before stepping right.

Sat 26th Oct 2019 - Kangaroo Point
Right Main Wall
19 Dysentery RHF - with Matthew Burt Sport 18m, 6 Good
Warming up and gear on for Matt. He sent easily this time.

Mon 14th Oct 2019 - Blue Mountains
Blackheath Area Celebrity Crags Jimmy Cliff
19 Butt Nuggets - with Matthew Burt Sport 20m Very Good
Repeat. I always enjoy this one. Big holds and good exposure on this one. Had to battle the fatigue a bit though!

19 Jimmy Valmer - with Matthew Burt Sport 20m, 7 Good
After bailing from Masterplan area looking for some easier climbing, we ended up here. A worthwhile addition to the cliff with a short thin crux above the big flake/block. Thanks for the bolts Lee Cujes

Mon 14th Oct 2019 - Blue Mountains
Mount Victoria Area Mount York Mezzaluna Area
19 Tin Man - with Matthew Burt Sport 18m Good
Warming up. Interesting crux for sure, but most of the climbing on this is long moves between good holds; don't really see why it gets two stars. Would be proper hard for shorties.

Thu 10th Oct 2019 - Blue Mountains
Mount Victoria Area Bardens Lookout Electric Blue Area
19 Electric Blue - with Matthew Burt Sport 35m, 7 Mega Classic
Simply sensational. I enjoyed every second of this onsight; it's certainly become one of my favourite easy routes in the mountains. Movement was interesting, with the route following a nice wandering line of features up the wall. The final few meters round the small bulge and up to the ledge felt fantastic. Carrots are nicely spaced, helping to create a good sense of exposure while climbing, but it didn't ever feel dangerous to me (the first carrot is about 10m up, with seven in total, so the spacing is around 3.5m). The carrots themselves are a mix of broad-heads and "normal" ones; of the seven carrots, my bolt plates fit four, so I had to use wires on the other three. I found it very easy for 19, but the finish definitely has the ability to bring heartbreak to would-be ascensionists, so it deserves some respect.

Thu 10th Oct 2019 - Blue Mountains
Mount Victoria Area Bardens Lookout Little Triggers Wall
19 Quirrell's Quarrell - with Matthew Burt Sport 25m, 10 Classic
Repeat. Warming up. Fingers were numbing out this morning. Definitely one of the best on the wall.

Tue 8th Oct 2019 - Blue Mountains
Blackheath Area Shipley Upper Hot Flyer Wall
19 Hot Flyer pitch 1 - with Matthew Burt Sport 18m Very Good
Repeat. Cleaning gear after Matt's confident onsight. I really enjoy this one. A balancy and delicate start leads into some really nice flowy climbing. Definitely enjoy this more than Jack High.

Mon 7th Oct 2019 - Blue Mountains
Bells Line of Road & Chifley Rd Bell Supercrag The Blowhole
19 Aquadhere - Extended - with Matthew Burt Sport 20m Very Good
This was really fun, though quite stop-start. I'd say Aquadhere get's its grade for the last move to it's chains, and I'd say the same of this extension.

Sat 5th Oct 2019 - Blue Mountains
Mount Victoria Area Bardens Lookout Little Triggers Wall
19 Mike and Lorna go to Town - with Matthew Burt Sport 25m, 6 Very Good
Quite good, but difficulties are short lived.

Sat 7th Sep 2019 - Kangaroo Point
Right Main Wall
19 Dysentery RHF - with Matthew Burt Sport 18m, 6 Good
Cleaning gear and fixed line.

19 Dysentery RHF - with Matthew Burt Sport 18m, 6 Good
Up to set fixed line for filming Jeff

Sat 24th Aug 2019 - Kangaroo Point
Right Main Wall
19 Dysentery RHF - with Matthew Burt Sport 18m, 6 Good
After Matt’s send attempt. He pumped out at the lip unfortunately. I really enjoy this one. Matt went for a second burn but pumped out at the lip again.

Wed 14th Aug 2019 - Kangaroo Point
Right Main Wall
19 The Bolting Gestapo - with Matthew Burt Sport 18m, 5 Good
After Matt's send. Cool to see him come back and tick this off after just missing out on the onsight last session.

19 Dysentery RHF - with Matthew Burt Sport 18m, 6 Very Good
After Matt's onsight attempt. He slipped turning the lip! I find this really enjoyable, especially doing a low traverse from the LHF's crux. Has some great flow.

Sat 10th Aug 2019 - Kangaroo Point
Right Main Wall
19 The Bolting Gestapo - with Matthew Burt Sport 18m, 5 Good
Cleaning gear after Matt's onsight attempt. He fell pulling round the lip...so close!

Fri 4th Jan 2019 - Blue Mountains
Blackheath Area Shipley Upper Hot Flyer Wall
19 Jack High - with Matt Burt Sport 20m Very Good
Repeat. After Matt's onsight attempt. Tough for the grade, with a heartbreaking finish (as Matt discovered). Certainly one of the most consistent 19's around.

Thu 3rd Jan 2019 - Blue Mountains
Leura Sublime Point West Face (Main Area) Middle Cliffs Binary Cave
19 Birthday Bolts - with Matt Burt Sport 20m, 9 Very Good
Repeat. Good climbing but I wasn’t trusting my feet. Matt sat once in the crux on TR.

Wed 2nd Jan 2019 - Blue Mountains
Blackheath Area Celebrity Crags Jimmy Cliff
19 Anal Leakage - with Dad Sport 15m, 6 Good
Same deal as last time. Difficulties at the start give way to pretty simple jugging.

19 Butt Nuggets Sport 20m Very Good
Also really enjoy this one. Doesn't feel much harder than Johnny's Jalopies, but it does have a good juggy runout, so perhaps deserves the extra grade for that. Matt and Dad both flashed on TR.

19 18 Mr Scumbag - with Matt Burt Sport 20m Good
Warm up. Still 19.

Mon 31st Dec 2018 - Blue Mountains
Mount Victoria Area Bardens Lookout Little Triggers Wall
19 Quirrell's Quarrell - with Matt Burt Sport 25m, 10 Classic
Repeat while waiting for other routes to free up. Probably the best line on the wall. Great climbing with a fun, engaging crux.

19 Mike and Lorna go to Town - with Matt Burt Sport 25m, 6 Very Good
Fun, though the difficulties are over pretty quick.

Sun 30th Dec 2018 - Blue Mountains
Mount Victoria Area Corroboree Walls Disneyland
19 Captain Hook - with Matt Burt Sport 25m Average
Interesting start, but over too soon. The rest is pretty nondescript jugging. Soft for the grade.

Fri 10th Aug 2018 - Mt Tibrogargan
Halfway House
19 Tenacious D - with Alex Mougenot Sport 12m, 6 Good
Straight after Tenacious D. Also not as easy as it looked from the ground, but equally as enjoyable as it's neighbour. Good finish to a spectacular day out. Great to see Moogie crush some big digits too!

19 Rocketsauce - with Alex Mougenot Sport 12m, 6 Good
Not as juggy as it looked from the ground. Almost came off twice on this! Still, a good line with some fun climbing.

Mon 23rd Jul 2018 - Mt Ninderry
Octopuses Garden
19 Nemo - with Jack Kilsby Sport 12m, 5 Average
Boy am I not good at reading Ninderry's slabs haha. This felt well easier than Neo Nasi Goreng.

Sat 21st Jul 2018 - White Rock Conservation Area
The Underground
V1 In Transit - with Tom Reid, Jack Kilsby, Matt Schimke Boulder 3m Average
Quite a spooky top out for me.

Sat 21st Jul 2018 - White Rock Conservation Area
Little White Rock Antiquity area
V1 V2 5 - with Tom Reid, Jack Kilsby, Matt Schimke Boulder 2m Average
Straight-forward crimp ladder. Felt V1 to me.

Mon 8th Jan 2018 - Blue Mountains
Bells Line of Road & Chifley Rd Bell Supercrag Arrivals (Lower)
19 Belayer's Root - with Dad Sport 14m Good
Cleaning gear. I quite enjoyed this one—some good technical movement up a slightly steep wall. Dad almost onsighted and Matt almost flashed—they both fell moving to the chains!! So good to see them working hard

Sun 7th Jan 2018 - Blue Mountains
Blackheath Area Celebrity Crags Jimmy Cliff
19 18 Mr Scumbag - with Matt Burt Sport 20m Good
Harder crux than Butt Nuggets and Anal Leakage. Overall, I'd say its a soft but cruxy 19. Regardless, all these routes are great—thanks for the rebolt Heath Black. Seven pitches back-to-back before 11am and the 36° heat settled in. So good.

19 Anal Leakage - with Matt Burt Sport 15m, 6 Good
Four routes in without a rest and this felt tough! Bouldery little start on this one (that I read very poorly and almost punted), but it gives way to pretty juggy climbing.

19 Butt Nuggets - with Matt Burt Sport 20m Very Good
More great climbing! Bit of a run out through easy ground in the middle, but everything you need and more is available. Could be soft for the grade, but who cares when it's this enjoyable.

Fri 5th Jan 2018 - Blue Mountains
Mount Victoria Area Bardens Lookout Little Triggers Wall
19 Quirrell's Quarrell - with Matt Burt Sport 25m, 10 Classic
Straight after Sound and Vision. So good! Loved the crux up top. Great climbing and another classic in my opinion, though perhaps not quite a consistent as Little Triggers. Matt and Dad top-roped it (I was too lazy to climb it again if they didn't get to the chains lol). Matt didn't quite pull the crux, but Dad got through it after a few goes. They're climbing so good!

19 Little Triggers - with Matt Burt Sport 25m Classic
Straight after Monkey Girl. Superb climbing. Tough little start to enjoyable overlaps/breaks then great movement through the scoop. Really great value for the grade. Get's a classic in my book.

Thu 4th Jan 2018 - Blue Mountains
Mount Victoria Area The Soft Parade The Right Hand End
19 The Gravity Game - with Matt Burt Sport 12m Good
Very cruxy and a little sandy. Felt more like a 20 to me

Tue 2nd Jan 2018 - Blue Mountains
Mount Victoria Area Boronia Point Ancient Mariner Buttress
19 Ancient Mariner - with Matt Burt Sport 12m, 5 Very Good
I thought this was great. Quite interesting through the scoop and a little pumpy by the time you pull round the top. The carrot route to the left, Albatross, seems a little squeezed in though and could probably have been an alternate finish instead of an "independent" line.

Fri 22nd Dec 2017 - Pages Pinnacle
19 Gnarley - with ross ferguson, Glenn Sport 18m, 10 Very Good
Warm up. Really nice wall climbing, though I always get a little lost at the anchors haha

Sat 4th Nov 2017 - Mt Ngungun
Lower Cliffs The Lower Main Cliff
19 17 Absentia - with Matt Burt, Mum, Dad Sport 20m, 6 Very Good
Alzheimer's onsight. Forgot how much of a sandbag this is...whoops. The others struggled to pull the tricky, bouldery start and quickly pumped out above when they dogged past. Run out to the anchors was much further than I recalled too, so probably a good thing no one made it there haha. Definitely good climbing though, just not at the advertised grade. Grade 17/18 edging with a 19-ish crux at the first—the polished feet certainly doesn't help the grade.

Sat 4th Nov 2017 - Mt Ngungun
Andromeda
19 Worm Hole - with Matt Burt, Mum, Dad Sport 17m, 5 Average
Quick reccy while the others warmed up. Okay I guess, but hardly suitable for someone at that grade. Found a decent gold just below the second. Would not be recommending a beginner going up to the jugs and clipping at the waist—would be a deckout for sure. The rest of the route is pretty uninteresting. Didn't want to get the leading this s cleaned it straight away.

Sat 2nd Sep 2017 - Pages Pinnacle
19 Gnarley - with Matt Burt Sport 18m, 10 Very Good
Really enjoyable climbing. Almost went the wrong way near the top though.

Sat 26th Aug 2017 - Frog Buttress
West of the access track
19 Hollywood Rattlesnake - with Justin Mayberry Trad 18m Very Good
Stoked to get this onsight. Was touch and go there for a little bit near the start but thankfully found a pretty good jamb that let me get some more gear in. Pumped my calves more than anything else. First Frog 19 Probably a good candidate for getting a bolted belay—the tree is getting pretty hammered by the wire wrapped around it...

Thu 13th Jul 2017 - White Rock Conservation Area
The Underground
V1 Too Soft - with Jack Kilsby Boulder 4m
Repeat. Warming up. Been a long time since I was last here and it looks like the left hand side pull has broken off and is now a bit worse. Still usable and no change in grade.

Sat 3rd Jun 2017 - Mt Ninderry
Ocean Vista Area
19 The Big Boss - with Matt Burt Sport 12m, 6 Good
Quite enjoyed this. Fun crux and steeper than it looks. Not a bad end to the day, but I definitely should have headed up to Ocean Vista instead of traipsing all the way round to Sunburnt Buttress and back.

Sat 3rd Jun 2017 - Mt Ninderry
Caves Area
19 Have Another Home Brew - with Matt Burt Sport 10m, 4 Good
Cleaning gear on anchors after Matt top-roped Hangover Overhang.

Sat 3rd Jun 2017 - Mt Ninderry
Enter the Ninja Sector
19 18 Neo Nasi Goreng - with Matt Burt Sport 25m, 9 Good
Very fun finish. Otherwise fairly mediocre slabbing.

Sun 30th Apr 2017 - Brooyar
Black Stump Buttresses
19 Footprints on the Other Side - with Matt Burt Sport 18m, 6 Very Good
Gear on for Mum and Dad. Both did well, but a bit much for them at the end of the trip. One for them to come back for.

Sat 29th Apr 2017 - Brooyar
Black Stump Buttresses
19 Beyond the Black Stump - with Matt Burt Sport 15m Classic
Always a fun romp. Cleaning gear after Justin went up.

Sun 25th Dec 2016 - Gandia
Peña Roja de Marxuquera Vici
6a+ Fisura tal travesía Pascual (Fisura tal) - with Luke Doherty Sport 22m Classic
One of the best at the grade I did this trip. Very interesting climbing throughout—definitely no give away. The hanger for the fourth (or fifth) bolt is missing, so it has a bit of a run out once you round the initial featured start, but it's not an issue if you're comfortable at the grade. Geez I'm gonna miss limestone!

Fri 23rd Dec 2016 - Mula
Ferrari
6a+ Cartagenera - with Luke Doherty Sport 25m Classic
Superb features, though it's getting pretty polished. Packs a lot of climbing and bolts.

Fri 16th Dec 2016 - Valle de Guadar (Echo Valley)
Aran de Batistot Lower Wall
6a+ 7a+ La gloria escondida (Gloria Pitch 1) - with Sarah Doherty Sport 210m Good
Rain started to roll in, so I jumped on this to quickly get another route in. Felt at least 6b, but not sure. Weather turned bad, but Luke jumped on an awesome 7b+ that unfortunately had a crimpy boulder crux, so couldn't work it with him. Hopefully the rain goes away and we get some sunshine soon!

Sun 9th Oct 2016 - Passchendaele State Forest
Middle Sector
V1 Leftbows - with Passchendaele V1, Luke Boulder 5m Don't Bother
FFA. Climbed ground up so needs a good clean. Climbs well, but the short hand traverse on the chossy plates at mid-height ruins it—there could be other options besides them, or left by them when they inevitably come off.

Sat 8th Oct 2016 - Passchendaele State Forest
Yuri's Place
V1 V0 Ham's Task - with Passchendaele V1 Boulder 2m Very Good
Would almost certainly say this is a V1, albeit a one move wonder.

Sat 23rd Jul 2016 - Vaucluse
Rosa Gully Rosa Gully North Side
19 20 The Last Wave - with Matt Eaton, Scott Braithwaite Sport 50m, 11 Good
Worthwhile, but not three stars. First pitch is very very soft at 19, second pitch is nails hard at 18 if your not tall, and the third pitch is a giveaway at 20. I'd suggest 17, 19, 19. Most of the first pitch was wet after you turn the lip, and the middle of the second pitch was flowing, but all the cruxes were dry. Definitely a good outing, but it's a shame the final pitch is so short.

P1: Kurt, P2: Scott, P3: Matt

Fri 22nd Jul 2016 - North Head
Main Area
19 19 R The Fear - with Matt Eaton, Scott Braithwaite Trad 47m Classic
Lead P1, second P2. Definitely a classic route with plenty of exposure and atmosphere. Such a beautiful location—if this route was at Nowra, you'd likely do it once and never again, but I would definitely get back on this because the setting adds so much hc to the experience. The quality of the rock is really the only thing that detracts from the route as it's very sandy. Also, the anchor bolts have been chopped at the top of the route, so make sure you have some cams left over to build an anchor.

Thu 7th Jul 2016 - Brooyar
Black Stump Buttresses
19 Beyond the Black Stump - with Brooyar Rocktrip 2016 Sport 15m Classic
In sneakers. Cleaning gear at the end of the day.

Thu 11th Feb 2016 - Kangaroo Point
Left Main Wall
19 Silly or Serious - with Scott Braithwaite Sport 18m, 5 Good
Reachy move at the roof. Runout between the 3rd and 4th is stupid—the fall would be very bad.

19 Nut - with Scott Braithwaite Sport 20m, 6 Good
Old dog = alzheimers onsight. Awkward crux. Final section is nice.

Sun 3rd Jan 2016 - Blue Mountains
Blackheath Area Centennial Glen Junket Pumper Area
19 Billy Bunter - with Peatey Sport 15m, 5 Good
Way better than its neighbour. Some good sequences on the upper head wall.

Fri 18th Dec 2015 - Blue Mountains
Bells Line of Road & Chifley Rd The Dam Cliffs Steep Wall
19 Lonely Thursday - with Sarah Doherty Sport 12m Very Good
Probably a tad more consistent than 'Sloper for Saddam'. Went very direct at the last bolt using a shallow pocket instead of heading a touch right. Nice to see some clip'n'lower anchors on this one too.

19 Sloper for Saddam - with Sarah Doherty Sport 15m, 3 Very Good
As with most routes on this section, the features are great. Fairly solid start into jugs then the namesake sloper adds a bit a spice in the middle.

Thu 17th Dec 2015 - Blue Mountains
Leura Sublime Point West Face (Main Area) Middle Cliffs Binary Cave
19 Birthday Bolts - with Lee Cujes, Sammi Sport 20m, 9 Very Good
Great slabbing. Would be tougher for shorties.

Thu 17th Dec 2015 - Blue Mountains
Leura Sublime Point West Face (Main Area) Middle Cliffs Choc Chip Chai Sector
19 20 Choc Chip Chai - with Lee Cujes, Sammi Sport 15m, 7 Classic
Super fun. Great climbing at the grade. Those holds!

Wed 12th Aug 2015 - White Rock Conservation Area
The Board Walk
V1 It Gets Better - with Will Lee Boulder 4m Good
Mon 27th Jul 2015 - Frog Buttress
West of the access track
19 Odin - with Luke Doherty Trad 30m Mega Classic
So good. Luke did awesome on the onsight—the magic block and the moves above it are flipping cool, and the finish is a pumper! Simply amazing.

Wed 22nd Jul 2015 - Frog Buttress
West of the access track
19 Plume - with Luke Doherty Trad 25m Classic
Great line and an awesome show watching Luke have a few battles on his onsight. Started raining lightly as I began climbing which made for some greasy holds and a little added spice.

Sun 5th Jul 2015 - Brooyar
Eagle's Nest
19 Looking For The Sun - with Scott Braithwaite Mixed trad 40m, 4 Classic
Sneaky end-of-Brooyar-Rocktrip-2015 celebration climb. Practically an onsight. Not sure it's the "best" route here, but it's pretty fun. Start is harder than 19 for sure and does spoil it in a way, but also adds to the experience all the same. Stuffed the start, lowered off straight away and went again.

Fri 3rd Jul 2015 - Brooyar
Black Stump Buttresses
19 Beyond the Black Stump - with Brooyar Rocktrip 2015 Sport 15m Classic

Sat 6th Jun 2015 - Brooyar
Black Stump Buttresses
19 Beyond the Black Stump - with Tony Sport 15m Classic
Have walked past this so many times and not done it due to the bolt spacing. Finally got on it and it's fantastic. Tough start that sets the grade then jug hauling to the chains (17ish once above the first). Could be super bad falling before you clip the second and scary big if you fall before clipping either of the final two, but it is really nice climbing.

Sat 9th May 2015 - Kangaroo Point
Right Main Wall
19 20 Pommy Bastard - with The Rock Squad Sport 18m, 5 Good
Cleaning gear after squad. Don't actually think it's 20. Agree with SEQ guidebook on 19, though would even suggest 18. It's definitely soft.

Fri 13th Apr 2012 - Hillwood (private land)
Matto Grosso Golgotha
19 Ghost Rider Sport 27m, 10 Very Good
Nice slab. Reasonable for the grade. Nicest climbing is from the last bolt to the anchors. Would say it's worthy of 2 stars, not 3.

Wed 11th Apr 2012 - Hillwood (private land)
Matto Grosso The Chessboard
19 Living in a Transient World Sport 8m Average
Okay line with okay moves. Wasn't inspired by it, so bludgeoned my way up with some powerful moves and not-so-great technique. Bolting is pretty ick too (w.r.t the 2nd).

Tue 10th Apr 2012 - Hillwood (private land)
