Mon 11th Dec 2023 - Mt Tibrogargan
Summit Caves
23 Raptures P1 - with Sam Pearson

This pitch is much better than it looks from the ground.

Sun 3rd Dec 2023 - Frog Buttress
West of the access track
25 R Tantrum - with Kyle Addy Trad 45m
Happy to get through the start first try on second, but Kyle put it best when he said it was like being a slippery gecko. Some sticky slappy climbing! You are duly rewarded up above with some seriously stellar climbing. Piton is in good nic and ready for stick-clipping.

21 Conquistador - with Kyle Addy Trad 45m
3rd climb of the morning, and felt way better on this! Less shaky and pumped out than infinity. Love being reminded by how classic some of the Frog routes are. We are blessed!

19 Infinity - with Kyle Addy Trad 40m Classic
So bloody great getting back out with Kyle again! And it was very welcome being back on rock - even despite the heat. Lovely morning. Felt shaky and weak, but a happy man.

A lovely ascent on a special day. Vale the Man of Steel.

Sat 18th Mar 2023 - Frog Buttress
West of the access track
19 Midnight Express - with Emily Mougenot Trad 23m
Started up this then got cracked by an insane thunderstorm. Sideways rain, blistery winds, and a wild cold front. Bailed off, leaving gear and rope 😅 Em dealt with the stress great and we reflected at the pub!

6 Saturday Afternoon Walk - with Emily Mougenot Trad 15m

16 Materialistic Prostitution - with Hannah Kennedy Trad 20m
18 Noose - with Hannah Kennedy Trad 22m
Not a bad route! Cool meandering crack with a variety of jams, and not real hard thrutching in the wide sections.

18 Gladiator - with Hannah Kennedy Trad 20m
Sun 26th Feb 2023 - Kangaroo Point
Left Main Wall
15 Breakfast at Tiffany's Mixed trad 18m, 5
Pretty much a sport route, though a #1/2 cams before the first is not a bad shout if you don't have reach.

Wed 22nd Feb 2023 - Kangaroo Point
Left Main Wall
17 R Tiger's Eye - with Alex Turnbull Mixed trad 18m, 3
Thought this was sport, so used my safety to sling the drill hole.

Sun 19th Feb 2023 - Kangaroo Point
Right Main Wall
22 Dare to Dream - with Alex Turnbull Mixed trad 18m, 4
The rock at the first bolt start is the chossiest rock at KP by far. The rope in the sling hole needs replacing/removing. Has been there since shortly after the FA I believe. Contrived finish, but cool movement once you commit to the contrivance. Route would have been better and more natural with bolts farther left at the top and going up the LH arete.

Sat 11th Feb 2023 - Kangaroo Point

15 David Mac - with Alex Turnbull Mixed trad 18m, 3
Only used the bolts. No worse than many of the sport routes here realistically haha!

19 Mr Plow - with Alex Turnbull Mixed trad 18m, 5
Climbed this without the gear this time. Tad unnerving and a few no-fall sections.

Wed 21st Dec 2022 - Kangaroo Point
Right Main Wall
17 R Mission Impossible - with liam boyle, Hannah Kennedy Trad 18m
Quite good climbing, and the gear is better than the guide makes out although definitely a route to place as much gear as possible - and be smart about your placements - as the rock is quite suspect. I finished up the drill hole and mantled out - note the ledge fall below if you don't jump out while falling.

Fri 16th Dec 2022 - Frog Buttress
East of the access track
22 Badfinger - with Kyle Addy Trad 30m
What a good fight! Trutches, arm-bars, a wide assortment of jams, protection galore, and good climbing the entire way. Good wide climbing that I think is only really rivalled by Venom at Frog.

I disagree with the notion of a lower anchor - there's no need for a lower anchor on the face. Future Tense's work fine and it's best to keep the top anchors out of sight from the ground.

Stoked to finally do this, and when I'm not especially climbing fit.

22 Yodel up the Valley - with Kyle Addy Trad 22m
Not bad climbing the whole way. Probably easy for 22, but it's a bit heady above the bolt! Great climbing up the arete above, with unorthodox placements to bring you through the topout. Great to climb this historical route, even though it's not a classic.

20 Back Row - with Kyle Addy Trad 30m Good
Climbed this from the top of Yodel Up The Valley, traversing down and left thinking this was Fawlty Towers! Missed out on the first 1-2m of proper climbing but apparently still enjoyed the business.

Cool unexpected position with classy climbing up high! Tricky transition into the hanging offwidth, but figured out a way to do it sans layback - which seemed scary.

My experience of this was probably made more interesting by the appearance of an active wasps nest just right of where the crack thins out, forcing climbing to the left of the crack.

Scrambled to Rickety Kate's anchors and rapped off.

This was actually such a great route, and really good value for a high mileage day for fitness. A lot of terrain covered and great cardio, mixed in with various pitches of actually-good climbing in the crux pitches!

Thankfully the notably-dry winter meant that the entire climb was bone-dry, leaving only dry, dusty lichen.

Kyle and I freed all pitches, him freeing the first aid pitch and me freeing the second. The upper aid pitch goes at aroudn 23 in its current state, onsighting and suffering through the dust. With a proper clean it would probably go at 22. Would be cool to exit the roof on pitch 10 next time. Simulled Martian and soloed some low-risk sections.

All in all, brilliant route for a brilliant day out! Will be coming back in years to come for pre-trip fitness training. ~8.5hrs car-2-car.

Sat 1st Oct 2022 - Girraween
Second Pyramid
14 Roarke's Rift Trad 55m Very Good
In one pitch. One of two great days out climbing with Scott, Shawn, Sandra, Toby, Kyle, and Dan! Did this route as a re-introduction, as well as a handful of other slabs, cracks, and faces around the second pyramid. A great couple days out!

Sun 11th Sep 2022 - Frog Buttress
West of the access track
15 Bad Blues Trad 22m
Nice! Another classic sub-20s line that's criminal that I haven't done before!

17 Neon Philharmonic Variant Finish Trad 18m
Fantastic! Fun climbing in a nice position. Fun traversing in higher, though climbing the crack without the wasps there would be rad in terms of position!

21 The Anti-From Trad 17m
Sussed a bit on rap. Great climbing! Crux sequence is fun and feels airy. Great gear.

20 Drop-out Variant Finish Trad 5m
Didn't feel like a 20? Also used the hand crack on the left so I may have avoided the contrivance. Linked with Pibrock

19 Pibrock Trad 20m
Good jams and stemming that isn't orthodox crack climbing! Good fun and well protectable.

8 Satisfaction Trad 30m
16 Satisfaction Direct Finish - with Kyle Addy Trad 12m
Sussed out the airy sections rapping off Pibrock to see if there were any surprises. Secure climbing with good jams and wide cracks to wedge your body in, though the loose rock up top is worth being wary of. Good pro.

Good way to wrap up a great morning with Kyle and many friendly faces that are staples of Frog. Thanks for a great day everyone!

14 Trick or Treat Trad 4m
Delicately sneaking behind the dead tree that has now fallen upon this "route" was amusing!

20 Sleight of Hand Trad 8m
Reccy and laps to warm up for the day and suss out the potential gear on this. (Just a #6 cam in COC to the R).

20 Sleight of Hand Trad 8m
20 Sleight of Hand Trad 8m
20 Sleight of Hand Trad 8m
Ended up not using the gear in a quiet moment with no one around. Felt a bit mentally on edge at the top which translates to less natural climbing.

20 Sleight of Hand Trad 8m
Once again to feel the flow.

23 Bel-air - with Sam Pearson, Kyle Addy Trad 15m Good
10 Strawberry Alarm-clock Trad 20m Good
Another one that I've somehow never lead before! Great chimney action albeit on stacked blocks. Wouldn't want to fall on most the potential gear on this. Pulling around the chockstone was sick though and great chimneying all round.

18 Brickie's Butt Crack (Left Finish) - with Greg Emmett Mixed trad 20m, 4
Adventures in your backyard. Missed the last bolt which turned out to be right infront of my face. Carrots ftw! Actual decent jamming in the crack if you avoid the holds on the R haha.

Another 2 new ticks at KP! Thanks for the session Greg

Mon 25th Jul 2022 - Mt Tibrogargan
Summit Caves
23 Raptures HB Variant Trad 40m
Doesn't look like much from the ground, but really nice climbing, especially the diagonal crack in the second pitch. Great gear, locks, and jams. I linked both pitches for full value, then placed a high piece in Trojan and ducked down into the belay cave, though you could traverse straight across if your second is okay with an easy runout traverse.

Tue 12th Jul 2022 - Frog Buttress

Awesome! Good pro and thoughtful wide climbing.

6 Saturday Afternoon Walk Trad 15m
14 Faki Trad 13m
Noice. Is that a new anchor up top?

9 Short and Sweet Trad 10m
Following Em's first Frog lead. Probably the most gear ever placed on this climb! So good.

17 Neon Philharmonic Trad 35m
How have I never led this. Stellar climb. Pleasantly surprised to find out this goes the whole way to the top! Superb.

8 Satisfaction Trad 30m
Following Em again. Didn't really know what she was getting into, but she dealt with it great.

Sun 10th Jul 2022 - Kangaroo Point

15 Breakfast at Tiffany's Mixed trad 18m, 5
Not bad at all! Didn't have a cam, but it wasn't too bad going to the first bolt though you want to be solid. Could get a good placement to protect the start though. Rest of it is pleasant meandering. Beware choss.

Fri 8th Jul 2022 - Kangaroo Point

16 Samson's Pillar Trad 20m
Decent gear by KP standards. A #6 will be handy.

19 Gynaecology Mixed trad 20m, 2
Awesome top half.

Mon 27th Jun 2022 - Gibraltar and Corin Road
Snake Rock The Buttresss
20 Snake-in-the-Grass Mixed trad 15m, 3
Harder start into the finish. Love the gear in the horizontal breaks - feels positively Peak District-ian.

22 Red Belly Mixed trad 12m, 2
Woah this took me by surprise! Didn't expect to have to think so much on this, but hey! Granite always surprises me. Thought I was off at the top but managed to hold it together and some frictiony stemming goodness. Found out the night after sending this that Adam Palmer's 9 year old can climb this - how sick is that?!

Thu 16th Jun 2022 - Frog Buttress
East of the access track
19 Inquisition Trad 27m
Warm up for an already warm day - this climb defs got me warmer! I completely forgot about the OW section (and didn't rad the guide), so lowered the rope and finished it off with stacked hexes and two #4s. Would've been nice to have a 5 but was manageable. Great line, but some recent lantana at the top makes things harder.

20 Cannabis Crack Trad 40m
How have I not done this before! Stellar climbing the whole way with great protection. Weird thrutching that's not quite offwidth! Superb line that deserves more action

Sat 4th Jun 2022 - Kangaroo Point

15 18 Radioactive Cheerio Mixed trad 18m, 3
Cracked pillar up top has a few placements for microcams and wires.

18 Ego (Left Variant) Mixed trad 18m, 3
Cool. Crack up top is pretty gunked up, but one good cam placement is clear.

9 Three Nuns - with Emily Mougenot Trad 20m Average
Dad's first outdoor climb ever! Struggled with the layback start but had a nice lesson in 3:1 hauling (from the receiving end), and cruised the rest.

11 Parson's Pleasure - with Emily Mougenot Trad 10m
Nice as always. Worse rock than I remembered.

Mon 21st Feb 2022 - Frog Buttress
West of the access track
15 Witches Cauldron (Variant Finish) - with Emily Mougenot Trad 14m
Great unique finish up behind the pillar! Great finish to a great morning with the fam.

Sun 13th Feb 2022 - Mt Tibrogargan
Summit Caves
25 Back in Black Mixed trad 75m, 4 Mega Classic
One of the most outrageous pitches. When I got to the ledge and thought back to how wild that experience was and felt the rush of dopamine - goosebumps literally ran up my arms. A truly unique pitch.

Great day with Kyle and Nathan. Led P1 and P2. Jugged out our fixed line. P1 was adventurous with good climbing and gear. I have never cleaned off so much bird poo whilst climbing!

Sun 6th Feb 2022 - Frog Buttress
West of the access track
23 Deliverance Trad 45m
After Kyle's stylish lead. Love this route, and that final sting!

24 Gone and Forgotten Trad 20m
Remembered the gear from last time, and the moves that count. When I hopped on the wall it was still and humid, but highly enjoyable climbing. Fun route with good gear once you know what it is. Stiff 24.

Sun 6th Feb 2022 - Mt Maroon
Wedgie's Place Lower
19 Nothing Much Trad 20m Very Good
Pretty awesome! Splitter crack, good gear. Nice mix of jams, fists, forearm jams, and just a touch of offwidth that you can faceclimb around. Get on it!

22 Something Special Trad 20m Good
Quite nice! Felt more like 22 for me at a minimum. Superb small wires.

Sun 30th Jan 2022 - Frog Buttress
West of the access track
20 Short Order Trad 30m
Lovely as always despite sweaty everything even at 5am!

23 The Guns of Navaronne Trad 30m
A classic albeit the sub-par rock high in the corner. Still, good gear most the way and punching through the headwall is mega fun! I was scared of this for so long, but there's nothing to be scared of! Side runner with a big cam in Odin at the top on a separate line.

Tue 25th Jan 2022 - Cape Raoul
8 Route from Wedding Cake to Cape Trad 300m
Fun scrambling along the Stegosaurus pitches. Nothing too hard, but worth roping up. If you fall, try to dodge the seal colony.

21 Disaster Master-Pole Axed Linkup Mixed trad 45m, 6
What a line! Great climbing the whole way, and so cool to climb on multiple aspects of the pillar! The position on that final arete is sick. Nicely lead Ryan.

18 Jihad Trad 30m
Nice!

18 Rain Of Terror Trad 30m
Bit of poor rock so it's smart to protect the start well incase a face hold breaks. Pleasant warm up along the way.

22 Pole Dancer Mixed trad 40m, 12
Flashed using Ryan's beta and draws. Stellar climbing in an even more brilliant position. Looking left and right it's all water, sea birds hunting, seals lazing around and fighting and doing seal things. Then the movement is not physical but flowy if you have your friction arete technique dialled. So good.

Sat 22nd Jan 2022 - Mount Wellington
The Organ Pipes The Columns
20 Daedalus Trad 55m Very Good
Mega! What a great, long OW line. Worthwhile bringing doubles in larger cam sizes, or other big paraphernalia as taking my larger cams for a walk is a slow process.

Loved this. Did in one pitch. Flashed as I sussed the gear on the rap in

Sat 22nd Jan 2022 - Launceston (Cataract) Gorge

22 Double Dozen Trad 11m
Beautiful climbing and finger locks!

24 No Right Turn Trad 11m
Cool. Then business is over quickly. Good wires once you find them

18 Garbo Trad 11m
Cool wider jamming. Bit offwidthy.

17 Afternoon Delights Trad 11m
Nice jams!

Sun 16th Jan 2022 - Federation Peak
North-West Face and Blade Ridge
17 The North West Face Trad 330m
After having done the Blade the day previously, Ryan and I were going to walk out. However, it was a blue bird day and the disappointment in not being able to climb the NW Face the day was still fresh in our minds. Mid-packing up at around 9am we decided to drag the trip out and climb the NW Face. Our excitement and satisfaction in the epic climbing of the day before propelled us up the NW Face which does not disappoint. Great position, the remoteness, decent climbing in certain sections, and good rock (apart from the roof traverse) makes this a classic!

What a trip blessed with amazing company, a feeling of being in another world, remoteness, uncannily bluebird weather, and out there climbing. Very thankful.

Sun 16th Jan 2022 - Federation Peak
South Western Cliffs
5 The Normal Route Trad 100m
Downclimbing this was easily the most scared I was the entire trip. That view of the lake below the downclimb is awesome in the true sense of the word, and terrifying. After taking some time to compose myself, it wasn't so bad. Just have to keep moving slow and assuredly. What a crazy hikers route.

Sun 9th Jan 2022 - Mount Wellington

Quite nice at the grade. Off the deck isn't well protected, but adequate. Didn't feel the need for big gear at the top with good placement of wires. Tree anchor is now dead and gone. I belayed from a group of shrubs up top.

Instead of trad after the second bolt, I used a bolt from the route to the right. Not the best route here, but worth a lap. Maybe just one lap?

Tue 27th Jul 2021 - Mt Beerwah
South Face
17 The Martian Mixed trad 320m, 22 Very Good
Such a great route! Great work Russ & Cris - super impressed and can't wait to take many a friend on this route

First foray into roped solo multipitching. Practice at KP helped massively to iron out the kinks but took some key lessons from this experience. Ended up taking 4 hours bottom to top, and 1.5 hours rapping back down. Used double ropes, climbing on one, trailing the other, then top-rope soloing on both ropes to clean the pitches.

All up, including TR solo seconding and a few Wayne's World pitches - A 720m day of climbing! Felt weird to do so much climbing by myself, but really enjoyable all the same.

Tue 27th Jul 2021 - Mt Beerwah
Wayne's World
16 It Will Be Mine Mixed trad 52m, 8
Found this spooky down to having to trust friable rock in places. Nice line though, and good work to Darrin & Wayne putting this up ground up initially.

Sun 11th Apr 2021 - Frog Buttress
East of the access track
19 Onlooker's Omelette Left Side Trad 35m
Feels good to be back! Have had a dodgy finger (bouldering gym injury) for 3 weeks. First time back on rock in a while, and stoked that offwidths and cracks are still accessible!

This is a great offwidth, btw, requiring proper offwidth techniques and without too many face holds to cheat on. Well protected with big gear, though beware the high big block. Best to use big bros in the top block of the LS crack if you're planning on falling as the sideways force exerted on the block is less with a Big Bro

22 Steel Fingers Trad 40m
Well led by Scratchy. Superb climbing,

Mon 8th Feb 2021 - Girraween
Mt Norman
18 The Other Dimension Trad 65m
Another classic line. Top section climbs like an easier Scimitar. Beautiful Cunningham's Skink living in the crack, so be sure to look where you jam! Also saw a lyrebird and another skink near the base. What a magical place.

Mon 8th Feb 2021 - Girraween
Second Pyramid
17 Late Afternoon Flake Trad 50m
Incredible climbing reminiscent of Watchtower Crack. Don't be intimidated by the offwidth.

Was sick watching Kyle's inspiring lead of Verglas.

Sat 5th Dec 2020 - Frog Buttress
West of the access track
25 Barbed-wire Canoe Trad 27m
Massive props to Kyle. Couldn't have flashed this without his beta, encouragement, and patient belay. Won some mental battles on this one and a real step forward for me in headspace! Chuffed. 1 hr 40 ascent in the muggy heat, sweating buckets and swearing "f***-its". Thanks again Kyle.

17 If Trad 30m
Great climb! Fun wandery climbing. Bit spicy at the grade, so bring your head game and small wires if you're leading around the 19 mark or lower. Was great to see Kyle flash Androcles in fine style too, in the heat!

Sun 23rd Aug 2020 - Frog Buttress
West of the access track
24 Suicide City Trad 20m
Another great one1 Try not to fall at the crux though ... this was a bloody fight in a dress and with a gear sling! Got pumped silly but got it. Claiming the onsight, though for full disclosure I did boulder up 3 metres, placing no gear (there is none haha), jumped back down to the ground, then sent it. Onsight or not? What do you think? gets popcorn

22 Out on a Limb Trad 18m
Frog in a dress day! Bloody great! Good lead Kyle, especially in a dress,

Showing 1 - 100 out of 725 ascents.
