Ascents as trad by Cameron Roy

Climbed awkwardly trying to compensate for my finger.

I remembered the beta through the bottom but couldn't do the 2nd roof on my first attempt. Only just made it on the 2nd attempt. 7 weeks of no climbing

Found the top harder than the "crux" today.

A bit squeezed, hard to know if the large sidepull over on Thermopile is in.

Hard start, i moved across after making the initial move on Cold Heaven.

Ok climb.

Fell off right at the top but thought i didn't do too badly after 7 weeks off climbing with an injured finger.

Linked into topsie the dog.

Some tough moves, depending on what you avoid. Can place a cam between 1st and 2nd bolts.

2 bolts on top to belay from, or build a toprope and lower off.

Pleasant enough.

Over all too soon. Beware loose blocks when constructing a belay. And then you have to get down... I led a traverse pitch to get us off.

Not worth the effort. Rope drag. Slung a thread at top and abseiled down duck bill.

Stellar position, absolutely amazing. Well protected. I think grade 15 but maybe it's just because we'd been at the moon for 4 days. Did Buckley's finish.

Great finish to Outside Chance. Shame it doesn't last long until it's broken by the ledge.

Takes plenty of big gear. I used a BD 5 cam to make the move rightwards easier to stomach. No need to get inside the squeeze chimney, just climb up outside it. Good to knock this one off after retreating last time.

Finish was unexpectedly challenging. Good route. 30m abseil from chains at top.

Got myself facing the wrong way at the top of the chimney - very exciting turning around in that position. Did 1st pitch only and abseiled at chains. 30m abseil.

P1 only. Very pleasant, nice moves and being in the sun on a winter afternoon was great. Abseil chains - 20m? 2nd and 3rd bolts of The Scarlett Pimpernell are too close to this route in my opinion.

Felt like 16 but perhaps only because it was freezing cold and windy. Shade from mid morning in winter. Holds are huge but you have to commit to the move!

Every pitch is awesome, an iconic route.

1st and 4th pitches a bit mediocre. Linked 2nd and 3rd pitches - absolutely superb. I thought flakes like this only existed in movies from yosemite!

I'm going to call this 16 if you don't touch the Yanama corner. Anything from 12-15 if you do touch it. Took 4 and 5 BD cams which were helpful. Ended up reversing a move and putting a foot in Yanama to rest which was disappointing. Belay is awkward if you are block leading, but might be ok if you were swinging leads. Maybe better to belay on the huge ledge as for yanama. 2nd pitch was superb!! (not 12 though.) Abseil chains at top - 5m to your right 50m abseil.

Geoff linked the first 3 pitches I think, and then split the 4th into two? Wasn't sure if I'd done this before but I certainly remembered the corner at the start of the last pitch. Perhaps you're actually supposed to move over to the left and avoid this....

Toproped after climbing moondance. Plenty of rope stretch.

Well protected and not sandbagged! Great route. I kept on looking out left for chains but in the end the crack leads you straight to them.

Great position, superb climbing, beautiful area. Maybe I just love the flinders ranges? My first climb here.

Tough move at the first overhang. Are the bolts rusty or is that just the paint?

Broken glass in the crack eww. I can see why I got scared on this when I was new to leading!

Dropped nick's cam. How embarrassing. I clipped all 3 bolts, not sure why you wouldn't.

Feels cruisey now.

I'm so done with this climb.

4 clean laps on TR (Yeah!)

Need a heavier belayer for the redpoint.

Very close to redpoint. Just have to commit!

Only managed one lap clean on toprope, tantalising close to 2 clean laps though.

Got it first try today but couldn't repeat it.

Guiding. Scout climbing course.

Guiding, Scout climbing course. Very wet after rain. Linked 1+2 to save time but the rope drag was pretty bad.

Worked the traverse really well today, got a better sequence but it's still hard. Couldn't link it together.

Felt like a 9 to me.

Low crux is cruxy.

Broke a foothold off up high.

The Badenoch and Adams guide is a bit unclear on where this climb is, so we climbed the arete (easy) and then the shallow groove next to it (seemed more like the grade.) Consultation of the Neagle guide confirms this climb is in the shallow groove and was originally only 7m long. Explains why the top 2/3 was all so worthless.

A hard move in there, but feels like it would be easier to move right or left...

3 laps teaching people to second. I'm going to say this feels like 13 to me.

More tough going. That traverse is killer.

Always a bit go-ey to start.

Had the wrong size cams with me at the crux oops.

Couldn't get it today. Although it was wet so that's a good excuse.
