Ascents of Deffust

Had to down climb and rest on the first nut. Oh dear. Tired post Arapiles?

Hot rock. Warmup. Tired. Nearly forgot to place the cam. Meh.

Last of the day using some different beta and nuts to protect the start instead of cams, bomber

Steep n slick jugs n jams

Access to the Raven anchor. Good second from Steve.

2 pieces, great jam. Drizzle not going away.

2 pieces is better than 3, less time hanging around placing the low one.

Lobbed off the top onto my cam. First time I've done that.

7.30am warmup.

Skipped the low nut

We think the big juggy flake has expanded a little. Avoid placing cams behind it. Will probably skip the usual first nut from now on.

Getting to be routine now.

First climb of the day

First climb of the night and my best ascent of Deffust to date! Yippee.

One of my better ascents of this. Have now got a bomber left had finger lock.

Gear easily placed - struggled with the hand jam in the vertical crack. Checked out the ring lock when I ab'd off and will try this next time.

Warmup, ran the rope through to the Raven anchor. Managed to not lead anything else.

Didn't know what I was doing so sat on rope a few times whilst worked it out.

Led to retrieve another party's bunch of nuts stuck in the first placement.
