Ascents of The Boy From Oz

A fun day out, revisited:

Tired but psyched the adventurers descended into the blooming wattle filled gulley, fearing the searing sun would bake them to a crisp and leave them crawling back without completing the quest.

They bravely attempted to figure out how on earth this funky line with two distinct styles would be topped. Their efforts were met with fierce opposition from an unflinching foe.

The adventurers grew weary and rested beneath the shade of a tree with chocolate and tea whilst discussing the complexities of human connection.

After sharing new beta, the key was found to unlock this magical line. A sneaky lie down rest here, a few little heel hooks there and a whole lot of hydraulic biceps and finally the quest was complete.

With many a shout, yeeeeew, the adventurers returned home with warm butts and full hearts. The end.

You know what's the best? Climbing this route on a beautiful day with beautiful company and getting it clean through the crux (which I literally have to turn into a starfish with full body tension in order to hit) before the traverse out on the lip on the second go and screaming so fucking loudly when you hit the top jugs because you feel like your biceps are about to implode and you miss the jug and hit the intermediate crimp instead. Teehee.

Really nice climbing. Would have been good to get another crack at it, but the sun was baking us 🥵

Came off at the big span just before the roof, not a friendly move for short arms

Quick play to putting up the draws. Has some super interesting moves on the slab and the lip traverse is pretty nuts too. Will come back for 👌

3rd go, bleeding skin, fun campusing

2nd go. Awesome techy slab crux followed by some really pumpy roof traversing, had to skip the final 2 bolts to stay on. What a delight

Beautiful fun roof climbing!

One burn, clean to sixth bolt and popped off making that move above. Epic climb, will be pumpy on redpoint.

Tricky and my worn out tips made it V difficult. Couldn't pull the move bellow the roof

Highpoint about 2/3 of the way through the roofy thugfest. Outrageously good rockclimbing.

Brought some extra lemon juice with me, and a bit more speed

Lemons were absolutely squeezed about 3 holds from the top

This "time" I went through it fast. Love the flow of this beauty. Pink Floyd on the mind.

Mumma Oz must have told young Boy that he'd break hearts when he got older, 'cause boy does he ever - a fine punt going to the last hold at anchor. Traverse beta worked a treat though, high point. Still pumped.

5 more burns. Many new highpoints. Newest being the last bolt before the anchor. Getting into and within the traverse each time now, which is rad! Got some new traverse beta sorted thanks to Jake's version of the beta, which makes it flow like a treat. Pretty psyched!

3 more burns. Technical crux beta works. Got to the horn in the roof 3 times in a row. Consistent high point. Mega. Burnt.
