Last route of a very windy day.. Good classic blue mountains slab route that is better then the 22 to the right.

Sun 10th Aug '14

Really glad I got on this route and psyched to have another project. Dogged my way thought doing all the moves first shot then surprised myself linking thought the crux on my second and got even further third shot. Both times pulled straight back on after a fall and pumped to the top.

The low crux traverse can be solved with some funky heel work and then its all on with big moves and mostly good holds to a sneaky slab top. Heeling good fun!!!

Not much chalk on this less traveled gem. Fantastic rock as the start and a great mix of interesting moves on flakes and edges.

Sun 10th Aug '14

Wow this is a full value warm up on a hungover morning. I was really grateful for Andy for putting the draws on this beast right to the top of the cliff.

Not as choss as it looks with a much needed lay down rest half way. Long draws are a must in the middle.

Why haven't I been on this one yet? Really tricky and sustained climbing in the first half then steep course not as good as you would like them jugs in the upper. Much steep then it looks and much better. The best of the 5"s on this side and the hardest.

24 * Gay witches for abortion Good Sport 18m, 9 Blue Mountains Ben Jenga
Sun 15th Dec '13

Done and done, while Jas warmed up late in the day I chucked a lap up this. Really interesting climbing with some thin hard pulling at the start, then a rest then a good pounce to gain the upper groove.

27 *** Stop Gear Mega Classic Sport 18m, 8 Blue Mountains Ben Jenga
Sun 15th Dec '13

Hell yeah.. First shot of the day skipped the crux clip placing the draws and caught BIG air time spooging out of the flake slot. Sent second shot (4 all up) when the conditions were much better after a breeze picked up. Awesome route.

Sun 15th Dec '13

Finally a dry day so I could top this out, made all the more exciting by the 70cm diamond python that was moving around on the upper wall. The upper section of this route is steeper then you think, gets pumpy up there.

1 sit for numb fingers, and another when I pulled onto the slab with sun in my eyes and grabbed a plant instead of a hold.

Preferred this even though I didn't get the tick. Great technical start leads into juggy climbing that requires a bit more thought then The fishmongers wife

Fri 29th Nov '13

Wanted to tick something today. Not that hard for a 24 but with some big moves between good but course holds. Needs a few more repeats to clean up some of the loose rock but with the strange bolting I doubt it will get much traffic.

26 ** Barefoot and Pregnant Very Good Sport 20m, 9 Blue Mountains Ben Jenga
Fri 29th Nov '13

Got schooled. This route wanders around a bit and with no existing chalk I got super pumped at top of the sloper moves and came off. Not as good as I had hoped it would be but still great climbing. Tricky foot work at the very top.

27 *** Stop Gear Mega Classic Sport 18m, 8 Blue Mountains Ben Jenga
Fri 29th Nov '13

I will be back for this one for sure!! A super line that flows like a dream and is a real pleasure to climb. Awesome pockets at the start followed by a couple of big moves to a rest then bone down through the thin but not to crimpy crux up onto the massive flake.

22 * Fluffy dice Good Sport 20m, 10 Blue Mountains Ben Jenga
Fri 29th Nov '13

Not as bad as I thought or the guide makes it out to be, glue start (nothing rare there) then funky pockets and continued interesting climbing. The top has had a good going over with a hammer.

My biggest dissappointment in myself of the day: done with one rest after the hard clip at the start of the second traverse (I saw the runout to come and got scared). Funky jugging at the start and the finish, with a super-thin fiddly traverse in the middle, and a reachy, steeper, bold one after that. Could easily be called 24, I think. Probably my favourite route of the day, and one I wish I had the energy to give a second shot. I'd come back for this one. Even with one rest it was a fight!

21 * The Original Bogan Very Good Sport 20m, 9 Blue Mountains Paul Thomson
Sun 13th Oct '13

Niiiiice technical climbing. At the end of Mr Ed you have a choice of left or right to get to the next bolt (one move balancy mantle or a longer technical flake, which will YOU choose?), with an undercling flake finale that makes climbing Mr Ed to get here totally worthwhile. Don't let appearances deceive you, this one is rad.

19 Mr Ed Good Sport 14m, 6 Blue Mountains Paul Thomson
Sun 13th Oct '13

Ugh... painful. Steep jugging on sharp rock. Not my cup of tea, but it IS cool that climbs this steep can go at this easy a grade in the Blueys. Felt harder than All The Way May except for the last move. Only really worthwhile if done with the extension...

22 All The Way May Good Sport 11m, 5 Blue Mountains Paul Thomson
Sun 13th Oct '13

Nails thin finale to a grade 19 climb. I disagree with JengA, in that I think that a grade 22 move at the end of a grade 19 climb still makes it 22. The epitome of a one move wonder. An okay warm-up, perhaps, but an average climb.

24 *** Johnny the neo liberal bogan Classic Sport 25m, 11 Blue Mountains Paul Thomson
Sun 13th Oct '13

Can you get any closer without sending? My flash ended 1/2 a metre from the anchors. I could touch the anchors, but couldn't clip them, so I threw to what looked like a jug... but wasn't. After a titanic fall (my belayer thought I was trying to clip and paid out a mountain of slack) I found the trick jug not where one expects it to be. Crux off the ground, with a few tricky sequences accentuated by the ongoing steepness, getting progressively thinner as the climb gets higher and steeper. GREAT!

21 ** Boganville Very Good Sport 28m, 11 Blue Mountains Paul Thomson
Sun 13th Oct '13

2/3rds of this is stellar. Technical thin-ish traverse, then nice body-position moves to steep-ish jugging. The last 1/3rd is bad rock, and ruins the experience a bit... but only a little. The anchors should be 2m lower.

21 * The fishmongers wife Good Sport 24m, 10 Blue Mountains Paul Thomson
Sun 13th Oct '13

My least favourite of the three 21s. The first 8m or so is really good interesting climbing on nice rock to a no hands rest, after which it's just steep, sharp chossy jugging forever and ever. Not a bad climb, just very predictable after the start.

22 ** Yobbo cow bait Very Good Sport 20m, 10 Blue Mountains Paul Thomson
Sun 13th Oct '13

Fun thugging. The start is probably 21ish, then 19 to the top after the ledge, but the trick hold around the arete might make it the grade for an onsight (until someone like me puts a BIG TICK MARK on it). Entertaining steepness.

21 My flannelette shirt Very Good Sport 20m, 9 Blue Mountains Paul Thomson
Sun 13th Oct '13

Bloody hard for a 21, and strenuous as a warm-up. The others climbing with me on the day might disagree, but I thought that this one was at least as good as Boganville. Somewhat ugly, reachy, position-dependent climbing, but it was less straight forward than the other 21's on this street. Rock is good until the very end.

23 * Quaking Very Good Sport 18m, 8 Blue Mountains Ben Jenga
Sun 13th Oct '13

With Shoes still on from the slab I convinced paul to give me one more catch for this very featured wall. All most muffed the lower crux by getting it all crossed up but with today's perfect conditions pulled through on some mini edges. Real didn't want to fall off the top. Great day.

Classic Monty sandbag. After a day of pumping steep jugs the mini crimps on this slab felt hard.

24 * Rottwelier Very Good Sport 30m, 13 Blue Mountains Ben Jenga
Sun 13th Oct '13

Well I had energy to burn so this good, looonng steep climb looked great. 14 draws including 6 extender draws will see you to the top of the wall. Onsighted all the way to the roof flake top but couldn't clip the anchors, core shot Paul's rope instead :) Plenty of knee bar rested if you can find then and the rock is a lot better then I expected.

25 *** Barbie Boys Classic Sport 20m, 9 Blue Mountains Ben Jenga

Very crag needs a classic 25 and this is it. Not that hard, mainly jugs but the undercling to crimp crux and improbable but perfect finish make this a great pumper. Lovin this crag.

20 All The Way May Good Sport 11m, 5 Blue Mountains Ben Jenga

Pretty easy moves up to a couple of crimps at the anchors, graded 22 but pretty soft at the grade.

21 * The Original Bogan Very Good Sport 20m, 9 Blue Mountains Ben Jenga
Sun 13th Oct '13

Once you finish Mr Ed your feeling a little tired then you get some technical moves along a flake to top you off.

19 Mr Ed Good Sport 14m, 6 Blue Mountains Ben Jenga

Pumper then I thought it would be for a 19, linked into the original bogan for the full tick.

Fun smooth start holds to the little crux then a ledge to stand on. The upper half is steeper but on big course mostly solid jugs.

Classic warm up. Great fun climb with a funky traverse to thin pocket then jugs jugs and more jugs to the top. The route finishes with one move on the dirty black slab so most of us finished at the last bolt.
