Ascents of On the Wagon having Beta

4 attempts, got it on the forth. Didn't understand the crux properly at first. Worked the crux, a lot, getting spanked to first jug. Sent on the 4th go. In the end, was not too hard. Thanks for the belay pearlyboy.

Trad start. Weird 3rd clip coming out of the bushy area. Great climb after that with an awesome crux sequence of 5ish moves.

Some bushwalking for the first two bolts. Once you start climbing however things improve. Probably wouldn't have done this without Neil's recommendation. It is worth doing.

Very good route, some fun moves. Done in 2012 but again also today for the pump.

Warm-up, placing the draws this time. Felt easy this time. Height is a definate advantage on this one.

2nd shot. It shouldn't have taken me 2 shots, but I guess I'm just crap. After the first shot I came back down, untied, pulled rope, and went straight back up and walked up the climb easily. Probably soft at the grade, but definately harder if you're short. 2 distinctly cruxy sections in very differing styles, with an easy 19ish top half. I like this climb, I think it's probably under-rated.

at the 3rd bolt on the onsight I had 2 armfuls of slack out for the clip in a difficult position with a small footer.. the footer snapped, off I came, down I went, along long way, inbetween the tree & the rocks to stop with my ass a foot off the ground giggling from the narrowest of margins with which I escaped unscathed!! perfect.. went up again, came off the crux, went up again & did it

2nd shot. Great climbing. Agree with Neil's comment. No chalk on route at all so onsight attempt was interesting! Line wanders.

Argh! I totally thought I had the onsight... Pulled through to the end of the main crux, no chalk on anything and no obviously good holds, so I launched to what looked okay... And it wasn't. Got straight back on and got it clean to the top. If my belayer hadn't had to run, I'd have definately given it another lap. After the first few metres, the climbing is really interesting, with an awesome technical crux, followed by an exciting physical crux. Mostly great rock.

End of the day send. A bit of a bush walk to start then some good interesting face climbing to a jug haul.
