Ascents in The Left Hand End

The beginning of my love for Adriel started here

Diverted left up crack past tree regrowth, good gear and fairly clean but horrible ramp of veg and shale above. Belayed at burnt tree a mile back as no other anchor in sight.

Pretty easy and not too filthy.

Think this was it but routes don't appear to be in correct order. To much dirt & rocks - forget it.

Weird moves, strange but good! Despite the bits falling down from above.

Retrospectively I could have softened up for this escapade with the ex-Froq soft-sole leopard print sneakers, a few soft serve icecreams, some soft rock (America, Sister Goldenhair), and a good dose of soft drugs, in this case the wife's multivite gummies washed down with a good slurp of soft drink, like warm Passiona. Fortunately there was slightly harder journey music, some kind of electronica scrounged from the Vinnies bin ...

Sandy and gritty with a couple of loose blocks, wouldn't want to lead it.

Two saplings are growing up right at the bottom of the crack. Need cutting off or it will become hard to start. Good moves but some choss at the top

Super dirty and sandy. Lower offs are hidden behind the overgrown leafy tree.

Actually climbed a thrutchy dirty 13-14 corner to the right with a single horizontal ring on a large block at the top but couldn't be bothered to create a route to be avoided. Then went looking for anchors above these other great-looking cracks amid a nightmare of black ash and burnt sticks over steeply-sloping loose dirt, shale pellets and larger rocks. Shame, nice looking cracks.

A large rock came off in my hand, the top out is chossy, there is no immediately apparent anchor and the nearest tree is a fair walk away (if it is still there).

Should have eyed this up more carefully. After the first two metres it's all choss, moss, and almost every placement is behind a giant detached block. The moves are actually nice but not wanting to joyfully pull on anything in case it falls off puts a dampener on the whole thing.

First proper trad lead. Feels good.

Started on the right crack.

Dirty, chossy, and full of debris at top out. Bad to pull on and lookout bellow.

Climb to tree to belay second, rap back down. Looked possible to walk to entry track.

Memorable mostly for my top out shenanigans. Followed the crack left, climbed the flake on the left into the cave, and ended up rapping off a tree 20m back before finding some shiny new rings between the two routes.

Does indeed look great from below. Dusty as all hell, takes a range of gear from small to huge. Loose blocks to the top. Perhaps I'm blind but could not see loweroffs so had no choice but to top out. Do not try this at home.

Didn't know where the route went, so had an adventurous top out on the left, fun climb.

Looks fun from the ground, but isn't. Sandy and loose. Tell your belayer not to stand directly under the route, because there will be many falling rocks. Try not to dislodge the big death block at the top.

Traverse left to rap anchors to finish. I climbed the choss pile and rappelled off a tree instead. Not recommended.

Fun and challenging. Good pro.

Had an epic on this , could not find the rap station, rope got stuck on a tree , had to Prussik up to retrieve rope !!!!!

cant really comment as i seconded this with 2 massive backpacks on. had to powerhouse my way through so no idea what the climb is like. seems easy and ok though.

Needs more ascents, it was a bit dirty but otherwise good with good gear.

Dirty and loose. A big block came out of the crack and almost hit my poor old mum! Go far left at the top to the rap anchor.

Cool wide crack, quite hard. It's dirtiness didn't help but spent some time on it cleaning

Cleaner than it was. Funky moves and tricky jams. Pretty nice. Will be very clean after a few more ascents.

Needs a brushing and maybe a single bolt.

Do yourself a favour and never come to this crag

As with everything at this crag...Don't bother
