Ascents of Rhubarb Crumble

Last climb of the day, draws were up , so could try hard and managed to get the onsight.

Annoyingly wasted the flash attempt going the wrong way and losing it. Went second go despite hitting my balls on the ledge exiting the crux

reliving fond memories from 5 years ago. Still really like the climb. Crux crimps are much bigger than I remember, except the last one which was smaller...

My first 24 🤗 workshopped this one a handful of times with Ross Paynter, which helped dial in beta. went on 3rd try. thanks Bruno Alves Buzatto for the catch and encouragement 😊 worth noting, milk every rest before crux moves to conserve strength and feel confident clipping. then milk the rest after the crux (i rested 2.5 minutes lol). beta spoil: big heel hook on ledge allows reachy move to jug at top of yellow area

5th burn and had not a lot left. Took another big fall as I couldn’t hold the left hand ironstone flake enough for the right hand to come up to the jug near the ledge. Think I needed to lean onto it more than I did. Staying central made that hard.

Will be coming back for this.

Made it past the crux and all I had to do was latch the hold at the top of the ledge. Didn’t have enough in me this burn Even rested on my forearms on the ledge before giving g it another go with the heel/rock over.

Rested for ages and gave it another go. Not sure why I tried something new with my feet when I had it dialled at the crux. Took a good fall. I was planning on clipping once I latched the hold before the ledge where before I clipped it from the undercling. Was trying to make my beta more efficient.

Feel like it will go next burn.

Burn number two dialling in the beta. Had my sequence slightly off at the crux still.

First burn exploring holds. “Baffling crux” has lots of holds and feet. Certainly stick clipping the second bolt.

Second lap today, fifth overall. First route of the grade since the kids got out of nappies (5 years ) 🤜

Clip-to-clip, TR, then one redpoint attempt. Misremembered the crux beta and punched to the break pumped out my nut, took a nice clean flier. Should go next time.

Cool route wih a slightly gymnastic crux.

Not as enjoyable as Ten No Trumps or Wet Paint, but not a bad climb. The crux is very crimpy. Trust your feet! Then you get a nice no hand rest before the last few burly moves.

This one had a couple fun little sequences! The moves felt good once I figured out the beta but it took a wee bit of puzzling.

If you're tall maybe soft? Too many good rests.
