Ascents in Brooyar by Matt Schimke

So not sure what I did last time I was on this and worked out the sequence. The crimpers feel even more heinous than before. Wonder if they have warn away slightly.... Anyhow, my fingers are not accustomed to the course rock at point pure and started bleeding within about 5 minutes of being on the wall. Need some morphine before my next attempt.

Hadn't been on this for what?? ummm 7 years maybe? Straight up placing draws, felt nice and easy. Hey, maybe this outdoor climbing game might be for me again.

I am stoked to onsight this one, as its not obvious to read.

The start is nails.

21 for someone my height.

Tricky and sustained most of the way. The crux went smoothly, thanks to some nice beta from Nick.

Hardish, but quite fun! The top corner is pretty cool actually.

Pretty cool route. Juggy for a few bolts. The anchor and last bolt are in silly spots, over the lip, which destroys your rope. Otherwise, quite fun.

Hadn't been on this since I dogged it in the rain last time. Pretty fun!

Cleaning toprope for Tahlia. This climb has had heaps of holds break since I last climbed it. Probably a grade harder, and not as nice as it once was. The new anchor is top notch.

Who knows if my gear would have held? No one. That rock is too questionable. Pretty awesome, although no more awesome than the climbs left and right of it. Thanks for the gear loan Carrie.

I like this sequence. It flows better than I thought, for a contrived climb.

Alzheimer. Still a bit dodgy above third bolt (ledge is very close), but better this time.

Did 22 variant corner finish. Scary at the start, moderate in the middle, and pumpy with long moves at the top.

Did the 21 version, which moves left near the top and tackles the hardest looking part of the wall. Carrie flashed it in styllleeee!

Didn't enjoy this much. Found the second bolt very hard to clip, although after talking to the first ascentionist I realise I may have taken the wrong line of climbing. Might be nicer when it is less sandy.

Two shots today. First shot I figured everything out, while losing plenty of skin. Second go I fell in the crux, with a silly mistake and refined some beta. This thing has some small holds!!!

I think its 23. I had a blast. Failed low on the onsight attempt, and only just made it second go. (2).

Set up TR for Tahlia to try the route. Had a quick go myself. Fun route.

Last move onto slab is a hardie. Tape those fingers!

2nd ascent of this beautiful boulder. Sustained for a short route, with every move being of equal difficulty. Jump for that start hold and you are away! (2)

The obvious way to climb this is to go straight up at the third bolt. But there is easy rock out right, so that's the way people will continue to go. Has a few cruxy moves.

Quite good! All FH's are glue ins.

Runout in a few spots, stupidly. The crux is pretty goey.

Great route! Didn't have much luck on the onsight, but worked out the underclings quickly. Had a lot of trouble on the slab before the anchor, and took the whip twice. The anchor is way out left, even though the routes holds tend right. Got it easily second go. (2).

The start keeps getting harder, holds keep coming off.

One big dyno, which would be harder then 24 for shorties. Read it well and hung on really tight.

Fell near the top when a rock broke and took a whipper. A 6 metre fall is about as far as you want to fall on an 8 metre route.

Weird start, had me in a 'prostate exam' position. Fun after the start, and a good introduction to leading.

Ehh, top is off route.

A bit too awkward to be as good as its brother.

Very nice route. May be 27 and I may have done the second ascent. Either way I thought it was a killer route. Second shot today. (4).

Little tricky section near the top. In the blazing sun. Rebolted.

3rd bolt is in a hollow flake, bolts arent inspiring. The anchor is a piece of shit as well. Moves are pretty good though.

I think this will end up being 25. Aside from the grade, its a great line. (2).
