Ascents in Mt Amos having Beta

Can’t imagine it’s any harder to lead this placing the gear so I’ll probably just take the o.s tbh.

Got really pump putting the gear on a red point attempt, felt weak after a month without climbing. Decided that I was to weak and tired for the red point I tried once on pink point and fell one move from the anchor Incredible how the hands holds are quite good but the feet are the opposite.

Definitely 23, well bolted desperation.

Hard at 18, suuuper rad!

Would be content to never come back for this one, top 10m was soaked from seep. Somehow didn't fall.

Fun! Anchor was jank but fine - slings on an old gnarled tree.

First time slipped off early and smashed into the wall. Next I messed up differently across the two proper attempts. Would probably go again next time if I was fresh!

what an awesome experience to climb such an infamous route! super technical slabbing and bridging up the thin seam, really interesting and funky movements. Onsighted all the moves, which I'm stoked about! Runout at the top is really intimidating and would be insane to lead. we followed the seam all the way up instead of stepping L onto the slab. Wasn't easy to find the top of the route to set up. lots of faff involved!

Wasn't a huge fan of the spaced bolting and ledge below you. Good route otherwise!

Second go

Should have broken in my shoes before climbing this one. Ouch.

It was very windy, I got blown off at the top slab crux on my second shot, and I was to gassed to put it together on the 3rd shot. Amazing climbing with a mixture of climbing styles from ground to top !

One day

Yet more evidence to show that henry barber never fully understood the Ewbank grading scale.

Gets quite wide at the top (bd#4) and there’s an old tree to lower off. Tree has seen better days though.

Lowered down this then shot up it, a nice route and well bolted after the first. Not too hard

Airy and committing, but really cool

skipped the last few meters and abseiled of the bolts instead of walking around

everything you expect from an old Henry Barber route: physically exhausting and at the very hard end of the grade

I couldn't have pushed it any closer to the red line. Last day, last shot. The closest I've ever been to falling but pulling through.

Really enjoyed moving around through the roofs on this one. Plugging in the last #3 BD wire and pushing through the crux and small runnout to the top felt great too. Pity it's a bit of a walk otherwise it might actually make for a worthwhile route.

Really interesting featured rock but bad gear through the crux.

Great climb. Turning the roof was awesome- imediate exposure. #5 cam was handy.

Not as desperate or thin as it looks ! Going to be a pumper tho

Not sure if Missed the route but ended up taking a super delicate finish up the face to the right of the large overhanging block, quite run out made for a spicy finish

Seconding Dave. Windy with rain squalls. First pitch contrived. Found the bottom of the top pitch the crux ( took 3 attempts to get through) then went to top. First pitch is contrived.

Quite hard for 18. Great range of styles and crack widths, though quite crumbly. Hadn’t read the updated description about a #5, as my #4 disappeared into the distance at the top
