Ascents in Mt Abrupt

Dialed top section but getting established onto launch edge is a bit harder than expected.

Very sandy at the top, nice moves at the start.

Got to the mantel but backed off without a spotter.

First V5, definitely helps being tall.

Great adventure climbing! Climbed in 4 pitches over about 3.5 hours.

Great problem

Very good first pitch, well protected. Suggest upgrading the pitch to 14 as opposed to 12 in the guidebook.

Second pitch is not recommended to bother with - crap rock, soil, moss and nothing exciting. There is a 3 point rap station after the first pitch. Abseil with a 60m rope is recommended unless you want to continue up the steepish wall just above the belay.

Everything here just climbs so much better than it looks!

A big old adventure for sure. Followed the first 3 pitches fairly well per the guide, then got off route after that. Double ropes very handy for wandering around looking for the route. Descent was a bit of a scrubby mission.

Bo boldly lead us up a random line to the right of Flay which probably wasn't this at all. Whatever we did was fun enough though.

Nice start, got very vegetated at the top.

Great problem once past the first move. Good one for a rainy day!
