Access issues inherited from Kalbarri

The Parks Service are welcoming to climbers, however there are some minor restrictions. Camping is no longer permitted in the Gorge itself, however Z Bend Group Campsite is open to climbers for $8 per person per night. The site is off-limits when booked by school/scout groups, so it is worth calling in advance before making the journey north. Registration and booking can be made at the Kalbarri National Park Visitor Centre on Grey Street, or by phone (08) 9937 1140. Note also that a WA Parks Pass is required for entry.

Ethic inherited from Kalbarri

There used to be a "No Swearing North of Northampton" rule. Breaking it, particularly at The Prom, would earn you push-ups as dictated by Remi. A boulder in The Pit derives its name from this now mostly abandoned rule.

Start 3m left of "Thrutching the Bison". Unclip 1st bolt after clipping 2nd one to avoid drag; pumpy crux near top.

FFA: Ross Weiter & Ruth Murdie, 22 Jun 2014

Guaranteed deck between 2nd and 3rd can be protected with medium size cams (green/purple)

FA: @robwall

Just right of Thrutchin', through the main part of the roof. Bolts through the roof then trad.

FA: Jonas?

Unique and memorable for the feet-first approach to surmounting the overlap. Well worth the effort.

Start 10m left of It’s a Boy or 2m left of Peek-a-boo, just below the right hand side of the pontoon size ledge. A small pocket under the pontoon is useful to protect the first boulder move. Continue by traversing 8m left (horizontally) under the next roof. Exit and finish diagonally another 8m to the top crack of Chimney Sweep. A good outing!

FA: Remi Vignals & Brian Tan, 2013

Same bouldery start as Pontoon, but instead of going left, go straight up the break, moving a little left before using juggy roof. Keep a straight line and watch for rope drag as you negociate the two short walls above.

FA: Remi Vignals & Brian Tan, 22 Jun 2014

Start 8m left of It’s a Boy, where the chocolate coloured band of rock juts out to present a start hold. Keep heading upwards and diagonally right through a series of horizontal breaks to exit out the overhanging roof at its narrowest spot. Well protected with cams.
