Mount Cannibal is an ecologically sensitive environment. Some people are concerned about the impact climbing could have on that environment if pursued without regard for the rare species which can be found there. Thankfully most climbers are also nature lovers. Follow the prescribed guidelines, which are common sense and can be found on a poster on the noticeboard in the recreation area at the foot of the tracks. As the poster says, "Enjoy your climb...." UPDATE MAY 2018: It appears that climbing is now banned at Mt Cannibal. There is now a sign in place that notes that climbing, amongst other things is now banned. VCC Access officer is currently looking into this. In the meantime, please respect the closure.
