Amazing deep water soloing in a very special place.
Huge 13km long Nitmiluk / Katherine Gorge, with huge potential for Deep Water Soloing.
Potential for lots of roped climbing too, but this activity is probably not allowed within the gorge. With some sensitivity, DWS might be tolerated if it happens on rare enough occasions (which it will).
Roped climbing has been done in the gorges above the third gorge. There are no tour boats above the third gorge so climbers are out of most peoples sight.
Tour boat operators / rangers weren't bothered with climbing so far, but keep it low key nevertheless – don’t show off for the tourists.
Swimming / canoe access is only possible during the dry season, due to flooding and possibility of saltwater crocodiles! The Gorge is all within the Natmiluk National Park.
Camping available at the visitors centre, and at designated camp sites if overnight canoeing.
