Ascents in Slapes Gully having Beta

Suggest to switch to L side of arete before the stacked blocks per the topo in the guidebook

Easier access down the spur from stobie pole 12444

I'm told this is a first lead ascent of this route. A really nice route that's technical and committing on gear. Thanks again B for the catch. Big ask when you've never belayed let alone climbed before.

Laed attempt - bailed Left up corner. Partner says there were RP placements I could have used.

Coached through the underclings....

It wasn't elegant - almost weighted rope - need to repeat it with style!

Fun

There wasn't m(any) places for protection on Slapeman, but 1 m to the L there's a fat ol' crack so I climbed it instead (~Gr 8?). I started at the acacia. Super fun and confidence building after falling last weekend.

Contrived. Protectable I think, but would be a grade or two harder on lead.

I was prepared to record anything after the approach!

Not your average 10. Seconding Anton for the first time.

Would have been good climbing if I was able to forget about the horrifically terrible approach.

Attempt on Top Rope, seemed ok. Stuck under the rooflet.

This would be a nice climb if it wasn't for the approach.

Had a sit on lead, at the crux, for first ascent (? grade 17 for an onsight)
