Ascents in Bonnet Bay having Beta

first outdoor 20 i've ever muscled my way up, crazy good fun. Maybe marginally harder than wacky tabacci

Had an epic. Definitely not my style. But still kind of unique climb in the Shire

Very soft when there are holds everywhere

Doesn't climb particularly well. Would not recommend for kids or beginners despite grade. There's a bit in the middle that's reachy with not great feet.

Tried all the things. Direct line is well hard, followed by hard. The 26 dyno variant looks fun (slapped the hold), followed by hard.

Stoked. Feels like a long time, but also not (10 sessions over 3 years, pulling on 1-2 times with 6 months in between). Took a while to figure out how to get in / out of the cave, but went fairly easily once I committed. Thanks Ryan L for the last minute beta adjustments and send pressure from your warm up red point.

A bunch of faff trying to find a kneebar that works in the cave. One hanged the last shot - need to stop psyching myself out and stick the move to the cave.

Fuck yeah, don’t know how I managed to flash this but very happy. Absolutely my style of cranking with big moves on decent holds. Got in the zone, let the momentum carry me through the moves, and just kept the pump at bay until the very end. Very very fun.

Tricky crux pulling on small holds without feet, not super obvious. Fun stuff.

Very sequence-based, specific bit of climbing. Definitely hard to on-site with non-obvious use of holds, gladly took pats beta through the thin crux and got the send.

Trying it with the new left shoulder and there's just no way sadly. Might have to shelve this one

Thought it'd be an easy warmup but it had a pretty tricky crux for its grade

Finally back after two years to get this done. Fun and techy with pumpy jug moves at the end

Working/warmup followed by a promptly thwarted attempt. Still not happy with the cave - neither my solution from last session, nor the lay down. Possibly an earlier kneebar - less of a rest (also less to rest from) and might be able to reach the next clip.

Really nice climb. Worked out all the moves but took many rests. Very reachy for me and a few dynamic moves on bad feet. Keen to give it another go though.

Stood on a bolt, but the mozzies were swarming, so we didn't hang around to give it another go. Nice climb though.

Found a preferable means into the cave and a pretty aggressive double kneebar rest. Next session, get out of the cave.

Would have been more enjoyable had I been wearing pants.

Contrived, hence average but good climbing. Did my best to stay direct which involved minging a crimp off the ground and ignoring the jugs 30cm to the right…

Honestly just climb the most logical line and enjoy!

One bomber hand jam, one bomber fist jam and then off-width goodness! I definitely still thrutched.

Nice to practice the technique without the fear!

Onsight ended when I dyno’d to the wrong part after the cave. Really rad moves!! 2 big dynos for me on this (including an all points off one), 1 feet off dead point and 2 big throws but feet stay.

Just the one go, very powerful but if I ever end up here again, it should go.

Definitely needed the beta for this flash, would’ve been very tricky with zero chalk on this route!

Fun when you use minimal jugs and try to chimney the entire thing!

Huge fall from second ring whilst trying to clip at the anchors. Clenched

Super cool to do a offwidth 20. Nice to feel a bit more comfortable with my Trad ability trusting jams more knowing I had a bolt there. Went nicely second go, atleast as nicely as jamming yourself in offwidth can go. No falls only sits

Outdoor slab always seems to kick my ass, took way more attempts than it should have. But went quite comfortably once I worked out some beta

Good start to the year getting kicked by a 21

Fun cave climb and coming out in the face was quite tricky. Chill vibes all the way up.

Bouldering style start, quite cooked for short human. But did it anyway. Rest was cruisy.

Not my vibe. The good holds run out under the ledge and felt super reachy to make it past the crux. Shit shallow crimps

Soft climb, but only because my friend on sighted this.

Enjoyed this one! Quite pumpy and crimps are not too bad. Movement is good. Used a tall boy beta and reached through when the foot holds got thin. Seems like a stiff 18 with that beta, add a grade if shorter.

This chimney was sick.
