first outdoor 20 i've ever muscled my way up, crazy good fun. Maybe marginally harder than wacky tabacci

Sat 9th Mar 2024 - Bonnet Bay
20 | ★★ Bruised and Scratched - with Jess Morton | 15m, 6 | ★★ Very Good
Had an epic. Definitely not my style. But still kind of unique climb in the Shire
19 ~17 | ★★ S'No Flake - with Jess Morton | 8m, 4 | ★★ Very Good
Very soft when there are holds everywhere
Mon 4th Mar 2024 - Bonnet Bay
15 | ★ The Jungle Book - with Megan Young | 9m, 3 | Average
Doesn't climb particularly well. Would not recommend for kids or beginners despite grade. There's a bit in the middle that's reachy with not great feet.
19 | ★★ S'No Flake - with Megan Young | 8m, 4 | ★★ Very Good
Fun but short

20 Easy | ★★ Bruised and Scratched - with Drew Ivison, Drew Ivison, jacqui | 15m, 6 | ★★ Very Good
Forgotsight. Soft. Very pleasant, if you like that kinda stuff.
19 ~20 | ★ Glorious Manglervision - with Drew Ivison, Drew Ivison, jacqui | 13m, 4 | Average
Apparently I climbed this before? Heinous start. Then nice climbing, but with scary falls.
18 ~19 | ★ Mowgli - with Drew Ivison, Drew Ivison, jacqui | 10m, 3 | ★ Good
wow! What a sandbag! And once it was 17…
27 | ★★ Heavy Haulage - with Ryan L | 15m, 6
Tried all the things. Direct line is well hard, followed by hard. The 26 dyno variant looks fun (slapped the hold), followed by hard.
24 | ★★★ Lean Beef — 2 attempts - with Ryan L | 15m, 6 | ★★★ Classic
Stoked. Feels like a long time, but also not (10 sessions over 3 years, pulling on 1-2 times with 6 months in between). Took a while to figure out how to get in / out of the cave, but went fairly easily once I committed. Thanks Ryan L for the last minute beta adjustments and send pressure from your warm up red point.
Sun 28th Jan 2024 - Bonnet Bay
24 | ★★★ Lean Beef — 3 attempts - with Ryan L | 15m, 6
A bunch of faff trying to find a kneebar that works in the cave. One hanged the last shot - need to stop psyching myself out and stick the move to the cave.
Fri 26th Jan 2024 - Bonnet Bay
24 | ★★★ Lean Beef - with Patrick Sparks | 15m, 6 | ★★★ Mega Classic
Fuck yeah, don’t know how I managed to flash this but very happy. Absolutely my style of cranking with big moves on decent holds. Got in the zone, let the momentum carry me through the moves, and just kept the pump at bay until the very end. Very very fun.
18 | ★ Mowgli - with Patrick Sparks | 10m, 3
Tricky crux pulling on small holds without feet, not super obvious. Fun stuff.
21 Hard | ★★ Kim — 2 attempts - with Patrick Sparks | 10m, 3 | ★★ Very Good
Very sequence-based, specific bit of climbing. Definitely hard to on-site with non-obvious use of holds, gladly took pats beta through the thin crux and got the send.
24 | ★★★ Lean Beef - with Christian Fane | 15m, 6
Trying it with the new left shoulder and there's just no way sadly. Might have to shelve this one
18 Hard | ★ Mowgli — 2 attempts - with Christian Fane | 10m, 3 | ★ Good
Thought it'd be an easy warmup but it had a pretty tricky crux for its grade
21 | ★★ Kim — 2 attempts - with Christian Fane | 10m, 3 | ★★ Very Good
Finally back after two years to get this done. Fun and techy with pumpy jug moves at the end
24 | ★★★ Lean Beef — 2 attempts - with Ryan L | 15m, 6
Working/warmup followed by a promptly thwarted attempt. Still not happy with the cave - neither my solution from last session, nor the lay down. Possibly an earlier kneebar - less of a rest (also less to rest from) and might be able to reach the next clip.
Sat 20th Jan 2024 - Bonnet Bay
24 | ★★★ Lean Beef - with Shane McNeill | 15m, 6 | ★★★ Mega Classic
Really nice climb. Worked out all the moves but took many rests. Very reachy for me and a few dynamic moves on bad feet. Keen to give it another go though.
15 | ★ The Chimney - with Shane McNeill | 12m, 3 | ★ Good
Stood on a bolt, but the mozzies were swarming, so we didn't hang around to give it another go. Nice climb though.
Sun 14th Jan 2024 - Bonnet Bay
24 | ★★★ Lean Beef - with Ryan L, Shauno | 15m, 6
Found a preferable means into the cave and a pretty aggressive double kneebar rest. Next session, get out of the cave.
20 | ★★ Bruised and Scratched - with Ryan L, Shauno | 15m, 6 | ★★ Very Good
Would have been more enjoyable had I been wearing pants.

Mon 1st Jan 2024 - Bonnet Bay
20 | ★ Aarvark - with Ben Molnar, Caitlyn, Jack Ferguson | 9m, 3 | Average
Contrived, hence average but good climbing. Did my best to stay direct which involved minging a crimp off the ground and ignoring the jugs 30cm to the right…
Honestly just climb the most logical line and enjoy! |
20 | ★★ Bruised and Scratched - with Ben Molnar, Caitlyn, Jack Ferguson | 15m, 6 | ★★ Very Good
One bomber hand jam, one bomber fist jam and then off-width goodness! I definitely still thrutched.
Nice to practice the technique without the fear! |
24 | ★★★ Lean Beef - with Ben Molnar, Caitlyn, Jack Ferguson | 15m, 6 | ★★ Very Good
Onsight ended when I dyno’d to the wrong part after the cave. Really rad moves!! 2 big dynos for me on this (including an all points off one), 1 feet off dead point and 2 big throws but feet stay.
Just the one go, very powerful but if I ever end up here again, it should go. |
21 | ★★ Kim - with Ben Molnar, Caitlyn, Jack Ferguson | 10m, 3 | ★ Good
Definitely needed the beta for this flash, would’ve been very tricky with zero chalk on this route!
15 | ★ The Chimney | 12m, 3 | ★★ Very Good
Fun when you use minimal jugs and try to chimney the entire thing!
18 | ★ Mowgli | 10m, 3 | Average
Surprised this is the most popular route here! Was ok
15 | ★ The Jungle Book | 9m, 3 | Average
Don’t uh, go too far right (and thinking you’re avoiding the 18)
It gets a bit dirty and scary that way
15 | ★ The Chimney - with Jason Nguyen, Ben Molnar, Caitlyn | 12m, 3
Really cool climb squeezing up through this chimney
20 | ★ Aarvark - with Caitlyn, Jack Ferguson, Jason Nguyen | 9m, 3
Huge fall from second ring whilst trying to clip at the anchors. Clenched
20 | ★★ Bruised and Scratched — 2 attempts - with Jason Nguyen, Ben Molnar, Caitlyn | 15m, 6
Super cool to do a offwidth 20. Nice to feel a bit more comfortable with my Trad ability trusting jams more knowing I had a bolt there. Went nicely second go, atleast as nicely as jamming yourself in offwidth can go. No falls only sits
21 | ★★ Kim — 4 attempts - with Jason Nguyen, Ben Molnar, Caitlyn | 10m, 3
Outdoor slab always seems to kick my ass, took way more attempts than it should have. But went quite comfortably once I worked out some beta
Good start to the year getting kicked by a 21 |

17 | ★ Lumberjack - with David Brancalion | 12m, 4
Fun cave climb and coming out in the face was quite tricky. Chill vibes all the way up.
17 | ★ Burning Shells - with David Brancalion | 14m, 5 | ★ Good
Bouldering style start, quite cooked for short human. But did it anyway. Rest was cruisy.
18 | ★ Mowgli - with David Brancalion | 10m, 3
Not my vibe. The good holds run out under the ledge and felt super reachy to make it past the crux. Shit shallow crimps
18 Easy | ★ Overkilled - with David Brancalion, Softboi_core | 8m, 3 | Average
Soft climb, but only because my friend on sighted this.
18 ~19 | ★ Mowgli - with David Brancalion, Softboi_core | 10m, 3 | ★★ Very Good
Enjoyed this one! Quite pumpy and crimps are not too bad. Movement is good. Used a tall boy beta and reached through when the foot holds got thin. Seems like a stiff 18 with that beta, add a grade if shorter.
15 | ★ The Chimney - with Roger Jiang | 12m, 3
This chimney was sick.
17 | ★ Mildly Bent - with Roger Jiang | 8m, 3 | ★★ Very Good

15 ~16 | ★ The Chimney - with David Brancalion, Softboi_core | 12m, 3 | ★★★ Classic
Quite run out and in somewhat danger of getting cheese grated. Awesome climb and somewhat technical. Enjoyed the stemming and bridging moves.
20 | ★★ Bruised and Scratched - with David Brancalion, Softboi_core | 15m, 6
Technical crack followed by pumpy climbing out of the cave. Couldn't figure out the beta to clip the anchor. Accurate name, did get scratched 😂

Sun 15th Oct 2023 - Bonnet Bay
23 | ★★ Between the Lines - with Ally | 16m, 6
This really exposed where my footwork is at, or how little trust I have in stepping up on tiny smears.
Very thin moves in the corner to gain the first rooflet too. |
21 | ★★ Kim - with Ally | 10m, 3
Cool route with thoughtful, technical movement.
Sat 14th Oct 2023 - Bonnet Bay
24 | ★★★ Lean Beef — 2 attempts | 15m, 6 | ★★★ Classic
Two tries, lead and seconded. Stuck all the moves with a rest before and after the dyno. Super fun and dynamic climbing which suits my length. Will be back for this one for sure
15 | ★ The Jungle Book | 9m, 3 | ★ Good
Good warm up. Gets a little thin in the middle
18 | ★ Mowgli | 10m, 3 | ★ Good | ||||
Nice and reachy, very cruxy
21 | ★★ Kim | 10m, 3 | ★★ Very Good
Delightful technical climbing with a punchy crux to the finish. Super worth a try and quite approachable for the grade
15 | ★ The Chimney | 12m, 3 | ★ Good
Fun 3d moves. Weird mix of stemming and chimney moves. A bit cramped for the tall

22 | FA Curiosity Killed The Crack — 3 attempts | 15m
Another surprise FA! A beautiful little 2m splitter hand crack right through a roof.
Ended up being surprisingly bouldery and technical. Thought it was going to be an easy flash but spat me off several times before I managed to stick the crux. FYI… Might be a sandbag given that I onsighted a 23 earlier this week 😅 |

19 ~18 | ★ Stopping Short - with Scott B | 7m, 2
The nicest flowing climb on the wall
18 | ★ Overkilled - with Scott B | 8m, 3
Easy until the last move to the anchors. Still don't think it's quite 18 for to the short length
17 | ★ Burning Shells - with Scott B | 14m, 5
The anchor positioning is dumb. We decided to use the lower anchors of the climb next to it by a slight downclimb and short traverse/stretching.
19 ~17 | ★★ S'No Flake - with Scott B | 8m, 4
A few things to think about, but I don't think it's 19.

24 | ★★★ Lean Beef - with Griefbacon, David | 15m, 6 | ★★ Very Good
The route has a consistent style with big moves from the start, it is really fun, but the difficulty is highly dependent on the climber's height.
Got to the third bolt, then struggled on the first dynamic move (feels possible, but I have things to learn), after the cave, the long move is impossible without a dyno. Another big dynamic move is needed after, and could not stick it. |
