Close to the city and easy to access

Description:

Dissused quarry home to Townsvilles ONLY Bassalt sport climb " Bassalt Assault". With 4 main areas of climbing West End Quarry is for the brave and stupid. Take a helmet and be careful off all the loose rock. BOLTING HERE IS ALLOWED.

Access Issues:

The stagpol street gate will be closed this is normal just go through the hole or walk around

Approach:

Enter through the end of Stagpol street, then follow old road into quarry.

Where To Stay:

NO CAMPING

Ethic:

-Bolts are allowed to be placed here

-Take all rubbish with you

A TR route off Basalt Assault's chains (use quickdraws on chain to reduce wear). Start 4m L of Basalt Assault with a layback hanging L from the granite xenolith. Layback up xenolith slab to a mantle shelf. Undercling, traversing R off mantle shelf on small footholds. Dyno L to nice jug. Step R onto xenolith and straight up on extremely fingery holds to finish 1m L of BA's chains.

2 Assault on Toby's Mum

Set up anchor on "Basalt Assault's" chains. Start on "Toby's Mum" and layback up to the overhang, then traverse right with underclings to the obvious bulge. Reach for large jugs then continue up staying to the left of chains.

Start in the middle of the wall and move straight up staying left of the bolts through overhang then straight up to chains. (Top Rope anchor can be set up of chains)

Starts 10m right of "Basalt Assault" in large corner. move up corner (using trad pro) to first fixed hanger bolt, clip then mantel the pedestal then following crack diagonally up right past bolts to finish. bolt 5m back from edge may not be there anymore (Can be top roped off bolt 5m back from edge may not be there anymore also trees with long anchor set-up)
