Climbing of all types (top rope, easy, hard, trad, sport, single and multi-pitch) in a very adventurous and remote-feeling location, despite its relatively easy access from nearby Townsville.
An excellent guide by Chris Glastonbury & Steve Ioannou is available on www.qurank.com.
Access issues inherited from Townsville
Most areas are free to access to the public, some are closed for short times during the year due to car, bike and running races and other events such as flooding, bush fires or land slides after heavy rain. but they will open again soon after.
This route requires a 4 wheel drive vehicle and goes through Private land and access has been negotiated by local climbers. Be polite to others you come across and don’t drive like an idiot. Approach off Granite Vale Rd from Alice River, turn L along the dirt 4wd track along the power lines. Follow this for approximately 2kms till you get to a gate, turn R here and follow this uphill for another 2 km up hill to the carpark.
A healthy mix of trad and sport.
