1.7. Marche-les-Dames 6 routes in Crag

Summary:
All Sport

Long/Lat: 4.958919, 50.482788

Unique Features And Strengths:

Small but interesting patch of limestone rock on military property primarily used to train Belgian commando's but open to (registered) climbers.

Description:

The crag is situated inside state/military property but is accessible for climbers who register beforehand. Consist of multiple rock faces with routes going from some easy routes of the 4th grade to a hard 7 grader with finger pockets. The limestone has been pretty weathered and worn out by intense climbing but still offers a great experience. Well-bolted and safe. There is also a long via ferrata and the possibility to do multi-rappels and multi-pitching (TBC?).

Access Issues:

The same rules apply as do for pretty much all the bolted crags in Belgium: the rock is owned and under constant maintenance by a federation, so climbers must be a member of a Belgian climbing association or be accompanied by one or more members. On top of that, one has to register the visit with the military beforehand. Bring ID and registration card. Crags are accessible during the WEEKENDS only.

Approach:

Follow Rue Notre Dame de Vivier down South until you almost hit the river, park at the bend in the road and report to the military office next to the gate.

Where To Stay:

/

Ethic:

Chalk is in theory not allowed, just do not overdo it. When installing a top rope, it is preferred to use a carabiner as an intermediate for the anchor as to not wear out the anchor to much.

Summary:
All Sport

Long/Lat: 4.938847, 50.479852

Approach:

Arriving from Namur/Beez, park in front of the railroad, then walk to the bridge. Access path is on the left right after the bridge.

Ethic:
