Long/Lat: -52.689944, 47.564701

Description:

Crag faces north so can be climbed at any time of day

Access Issues:

The crag is alongside Southside Road once you reach the fishing harbour. Access is fully public. Be mindful (noise, garbage) of houses to the left of the crag.

Approach:

Bottoms out at same elevation as road. Access to top is to the right of the face.

1.4. Flatrock 19 routes in Area

Summary:
Mostly Trad

Long/Lat: -52.699212, 47.698580

Description:

Probably the most popular climbing area around St. John's. As this crag is seaside be careful during stormy times of year and when tides are at their highest. It's not uncommon for king waves to crash up over the rocks possibly wetting your feet (and gear)

Access Issues:

Drive out to Wade's Lane (off Windgap Road) in Flatrock. Access to all climbing areas on "the beamer" is by use of two parking areas: 1) along Wade's Lane (just right of house #43) or 2) down the end of the road at the public wharf.

1.4.1. Main Face 19 routes in Crag

Summary:
Mostly Trad

Long/Lat: -52.699212, 47.698580

Unique Features And Strengths:

Although all routes are classified as Traditional, probably 80% of route have bolts so always bring a few quickdraws. There are some routes that you can get away with just draws and no rack.

Access Issues:

The new access to this area is easier than the old access. Park along Wade's Lane (off Windgap road). There is a trail to the right of house #43, you'll see a rocky outcrop with a place to park. Best knowledge is that this is public land but tread lightly.

Approach:

The trail leads up an ATV path for 5 minutes. The path can be muddy. When you reach a more prominent trail (East Coast Trail) scramble over a couple rocks that are straight ahead of you (20'). Follow the beaten path down to the main climbing area. Inukshuks and field tape mark the easiest path down.

1.5. Manuels 23 routes in Region

Summary:
Mostly Sport

Long/Lat: -52.965738, 47.487998

Description:

Granite cliffsides in CBS (Manuels/Foxtrap). Most routes are bolted and have rappel anchors

Access Issues:

Southwest bound on Conception Bay Highway, turn left before Minerals Road onto Country Path Road. OR If driving out from St. John's on the highway (route 2), go past the cloverleaf and stay left when told to exit for Manuel's. Follow Peacekeepers Way until the Minerals Road exit. Exit northbound for about 400m and then turn left onto Country Path Road.

Drive all the way to the end of the road (under the bypass) and park on the left side.

Approach:

Follow the trail for about 10 minutes until you reach a boggy area, a few minute later there'll be a distinct fork, where you'll see a swimming area and a couple small waterfalls on your right. Turn left at this fork and walk for another few minutes until you reach another boggy spot in the trail. There will be another fork and turn left here as well. The trail then goes up the hill and splits to a few different crags.

1.5.1. Noobie Squeeze 4 routes in Crag

Summary:
Sport and Trad

Long/Lat: -52.966290, 47.489661

Approach:

After the two forks in the trail you will start grading up towards the crags. About 10 minutes after the second fork you'll walk straight up a hill where you should be able to see Noobie Squeeze, the leftmost face. There will be a tree on the right hand side with two orange tags and one blue tag about eye level (they've faded over the years). Don't turn right at this tree, as you would to go to the other crags, but instead trudge straight ahead and after a minute or two you'll see a path go up the hill quite steeply to the base of the climbs. follow this path to the right and it will loop back on itself to the higher ledge. When you reach the end of this ledge, you've reached Noobie Squeeze.
