The climbing in this area is on limestone rock with loads of tufa features to be used.

The Julio Enrique Monagas Urban Park (Parque Julio Enrique Monagas Urbano) in Bayamon is a 200-acre nature area that was been set aside in 1993 to conserve the forest and provide a natural area for people to enjoy. The rock climbing here is mostly easy to moderate climbing focusing a lot on the 5.10 grade. A great place to get away from the cold winter in the U.S. and get your climb on during the day and then chill by the beach in the evenings.

Go to for a comprehensive climbing guide and help support the maintenance and development of new climbing areas in the island. The local shop, Aventuras Tierra Adendtro (Inland Adventures), has pioneered the setting and development of routes in the island.

Access issues

The climbing area is located in the park just outside of San Juan called Julio Enrique Monegas Park.

Hike uphill on the main trail from the parking lot area.

Where to stay

One great place to go eat is a joint called Pizza Cono. Some the best to go pizza anywhere! Also for a late night of drinking head into old San Juan and visit La Taberna Lupolo. Best place in all of Puerto Rico for beer.
