Routes as trad in Nuevo León

1er largo: 4ta clase 2do largo: 4ta clase 3er largo: 4ta clase 4to largo: 4ta clase con reunion trad 5to largo: 5.6

Esta ruta se accesa por la canaleta que usan para hacer el rapel que baja a la cueva de la virgen. Esta a tres o cuatro metros a la izquierda de Reynas y Reyes y las únicas protecciones son chavetas y clavos viejos. La ruta tiene muy pocas protecciones y tiene hasta 20 metros de espacios sin anclajes, por esto es necesario/recomendable llevar stoppers y algunos cams. El cruz si tiene alrededor de 10 chavetas pero todas están oxidadas y la reunión es una sola chaveta antigua.

El primer largo son como 30 metros pero puedes juntarlo sin problema con el segundo largo. Pasas por una chimenea que requiere un poco de técnica. El tercer largo es un poco más fácil y acaba en una pequeña repisa donde inicias una travesía a la izquierda. El cuarto largo lo agrego solo porque es la travesía de 10 metros a la izquierda para dar belay de un lugar más cómodo y poder ver al escalador en la siguiente sección. El quinto largo inicia con una travesía a la izquierda y luego entras a la canaleta a la parte más aérea de la ruta, la reunión es una argolla con una cadena vieja, es más recomendable subir uno o dos metros más y montar una reunión con stoppers o cams. El último largo ya no entra de lleno a la canaleta, vas por un filito o arista la izquierda de la canaleta que sube el largo anterior.

Para bajar tiene que caminar un poco hacia abajo por la otra cara de la pared haciendo como un trayecto de media luna que baja y luego sube un poco hasta llegar a las cadenas del rapel. El primer rapel son como 45 metros, con una cuerda de 80 se pueda hacer y desescalar un poco. Sigues un caminito como si quisieras llegar a la pared donde termina la tirolesa de la vía ferrata, pasas un chorreadero y topas el caminito hasta topar con el siguiente rapel de aproximadamente 30 metros. Llegas a otra estación de donde ya no hay problema siguiendo las chavetas y las siguientes estaciones para terminar de bajar.

Fue Una de las mejores rutas de la zona. Lamentablemente la via ferrata casi destruyo por completo este legado de los antecesores. Aventura

Esta ruta comienza desde el segundo largo de Soldaditos. Equipo requerido: 1 set de hexcentrics, 1 set de cams #1 - #4, 1 set de Nuts, 2 cuerdas de 70m. Para el descenso hay que caminar por la cresta hacia el este, al llegar al diedro, buscar las placas y hacer tres rapeles, el primero de 69m y dos de 50 mas.

Ruta de escalada mixta (artificial y tradicional), abierta en otoño del 2003, sin ninguna repetición hasta la fecha.

Climb "Pepe y Lupe" then continue up the ridge for 7 more pitches -- lots of easy 4th & 5th class with the occasional head wall.

Start up "Otis (Campbell)", then continue up and right through the garden, over the ridge then follow the dihedral to the same summit as "Estrellita".

Climb the ridge right of "UFOs Big Rigs and Burritos" into the big dihedral and then up to the same peak as "Estrellita".

Probably shares upper pitches with "Jungle Boogie".

Can be rappelled on anchors/sub-anchors up high and "Super Nova" anchors down lower.

Obvious wide crack at top of canyon. Vegetated. Trad, but might have bolted belays.

First pitch has been bolted and partially cleaned to provide access to "The Vatican".

Might find 3-4 bolts per pitch, but should bring gear.

Climb "Dope Ninja" then continue up the ridge to a large ledge. Easier terrain, 3 pitches up a headwall, short pitch out right, up a dihedral.

Walk along top to top of "Devotion" and rappel that for the descent.

Same anchor as first pitch of Treasure of the Sierra madre. You may also clip the last 2 bolts, take gear from 0.5 to 2.

Climb the western ridge of the uphill spire.

Climb the downhill ridge (the ridge facing the road) of the downhill (eastern) spire.

Starts left of "Stairway to Nowhere", up to its summit, further up the ridge into a large bowl, then up to the summit of "Time Wave Zero".

Descent: rappel TWZ.

Mixed gear and bolts, seldom climbed and hard to find.

Climb the gully just left of "Las Chimuelas".

Mostly 4th class, with a few steeper bits.

Looking up into the Potrero from the camping area, there is an obvious steep ridge line up the right side of the Potrero -- that's Monster Truck, the whole ride line.

Do the first two pitches of "Quick Draw McGraw", then continue up the ridge following the path of least resistance when the ridge looks harder than 5.9.

Lots and lots and lots of pitches, with generous chunks of 3rd class, too.

Climbs the ridge on the left side of the overlook all the way up to the summit of El Toro.

Descent: Traverse the top and rappel "Time Wave Zero" or walk off the hiking trail to the south and east.

Start in the chimney right of the Plancha, climb up it, onto and along the ridge, then down to the Lookout.

A good introduction to the terrain found in the longer ridge routes such as "The Scariest Ride in the Park" and "Monster Truck".

Same start as "Land Of The Free". The 5th and 12th pitch are trad pitches requiring between .25" and 3" gear.

18 pitches, up to 5.10d. Originally done on gear, retro-bolted in 1999. Retro-bolting still leaves many runouts, and there is, also, lots of loose rock to keep the sense of adventure alive.

Unrepeated since first ascent due to huge amounts of loose rock. Several parties have been injured or backed off on this.

Climbs the east (closest to the road) ridge of El Bobo. Nasty bushwhack to the base making the climb hard to find. 4 new bolts have been added on the start, but rest is gear.

Designed to be a trad route: lots of bolts, easy rappels, three or four bolt belay stations. Start just left of the lowest point on the wall. Bivy possible after pitch six. Cut under the obvious orange roof on pitch 11.
