Ascents in Motutere

only 2nd two pitches as we traversed in from an unknown route on the left... climbing with a 8kg pack really threw me off

Epic climb, very unique and lots of variety in the different pitches. Definitely worth more than 2 stars. Led all pitches. Marking as "onsight" despite a couple of false starts on P2... close enough! Unfortunately got back to the car and found our car window had been smashed and lots of stuff stolen... be careful at the carpark!

Awesome climb. Found seconding first pitch a tough warm up (first experience of Castle Rock slab). Enjoyed leading crux 20 pitch, fall on 2nd bolt on traverse from anchor I used, feels a bit like 2nd crux. Didn't know what climb this anchor is supposed to be used for, so used one too early on the traverse, so ended up climbing this route in five pitches, with a short pitch to the proper 3rd pitch anchor. Last 18 pitch really fun, nice top out. Keen to get back and lead some of the other pitches!

Awesome climb, particularly love the first long slabby pitch. On the 2nd pitch there is quite a sizeable block cracked, leaning down and looking very precarious over the first bolt- someone should dislodge it. Apparently this used to be used as a hold in the climb- better not anymore! One of us tried to kick it off seconding well out of the way of the fall zone but couldn't move it- wrong angle of attack.

Awesome climb. Quite sustained, though there is no one spot that you had to push through. Nice and long.

Simul-climbed the first two pitches and then stepped right at the top of 2nd pitch to climb Heavy Haulage.

P1 - Onsite Lead, P2 - 2nd Clean.

Tricky to lead for someone not use to long slab routes but so cool ! Take extra quickdraws !

Lead Pitch 1 and 3 Will have to come back and lead Pitch 2 one day. Awesome exposure and just feel good climbing on super rough bulbous... things... Don't forget to look down to see how small your balls are compared to the open space below.

Last pitch needs about 15 more meters of the "horns" a little Coolum-esque.

Sick climb.
