I just want to say that it is great to be here and that I am looking forward to speaking with you all. As you guys can see from the title I have some questions about climbing gear but this may sound a little crazy so please bare with me. At the moment I am taking a trip to Cambodia with my girlfriend. We have come across a lovely little town called Kampot and we are staying here for another couple of weeks. There is a new activity in town "Climbing" and to be honest, it looks awesome. You get to climb the side of the mountain, via ferrata, abseiling and then a cave tour at the end. But, I have never been climbing before it is something that has been on my on my todo list for a while now. I'm kinda worried being where I am in the world and whether I can trust the equipment or the instructor. What kind of clothing should we wear when climbing?
Will these boots be suitable? http://www.used.forsale/climbing-boots This could be a make or break when it comes to climbing for us. If we enjoy this experience we will be doing a lot more climbing and even purchase our own gear to go climbing with.
Instructor:
A nice middle aged European guy who says he has the correct paperwork that says it's all legal and that he's a trained instructor back in Europe. Are there any questions I could ask to be sure he's telling the truth? (you get some real shady people out here) Or maybe some paperwork/license that says he's trained? Once that is clarified I would feel a lot better going up there.
It was amazing!!! One of the best experiences of my life and as you can all see I'm still here. I hope this post helps someone out in the future because it is very easy to get scared before climbing up the side of a mountain. All the gear was provided by the instructor and he said this should happen no matter where you climb as a beginner.
