Trad climbing area on a needle that sticks out of the sea.

Description

The Longa da Moreira needle is connected to the cape by a narrow neck. Walking the neck and ascending the needle on the east ridge is the most popular route. There are 10 multipitch trad climbing routes with different difficulty and exposition degrees.

Access issues

The crag is in the protected area Costa Ártabra.

Approach

Moderately exposed scramble on the neck that connects the needle to the coast.

Ethic

Trad climbing area. Some anchors have one or two permanent bolts, but most of the routes are completely clean.

History

First routes were developed in the 80s. A 2nd wave of trad climbers climbed new itineraries in the 2010s and 2020s.
