Ascents of Fail Safe

Came back when there was no sun and felt much better! What a rad little climb.

Midday sun was no fun for the sloper

Felt desperate. 2nd go

Fun route pretty much a boulder on rope. Stuck the sloper first go 😁

Sent it on my second go! Was a fun little boulder problem. Malcolm said it was his first 25 which he climb 41 years prior, in 1981. Wild!

Second shot, hard, but only for a few meters

Fun moves but the body was no longer willing.

Short and bouldery, cool moves. It took me 3 mornings to get.

Pretty short, but 2 good sequences on this route. Unsure on the correct beta for the second sequence, but didn't use the glued on blobby thing!

Sweet! The route's over pretty quick, although the moves are sweet!

With the bolts it is a sport route and probably the easiest 25 in aus. At best it's 24, could even be considered a stiff 23. Still, glad to tick it, only took a few attempts

First shot of the day. First 25. Awesome mantle and bouldery moves.

1 failed attempt at getting the draws on. Couldn't figure out the high step on the first. 2 more attempts after that getting to the top. Running out of power. I'll be back after a rest day

Figured out all the moves.

Decided I didn't like my beta and found new beta.

Came off one before the finishing jugs. A bit more rest and a bit more skin and it should go.

Rigged and played with the moves on rap. First shot on lead. Bouldering on a rope, probably not 25.

Read Tom Reid's ascent comments, as it almost exactly describes my experience on this. Except my flash attempt was one move lower. Great fun, shoulda sent on the secobd easily.

3rd go, after finding more suitable beta for the last move, where I fell on my flash attempt. Probably a touch soft if you don't mind slappy, bouldery moves.

90% sure this is the climb that has been retrobolted, 3 bolts and anchors, to the right of the Muldoon cave. It's maybe a sport 24. Like a boulder move 15m in the air - worth doing!

Backed off on lead due to poor gear. OK climbing but wouldn't lead it.

Fun, but not a touch on other 2 star routes at Arapiles (unless you don't like placing gear). If this was in the Blueys I suspect it would be given something like grade 22.
