scrambled then swung, led the runout slab. looked at the topo but didn't really understand how crucial the "0.3' cam" placement was nor how small 0.3in actually is, and also didn't grab wires off partner. wasn't confident about the slick 5.7 slab crux in the sun 8m above my last bolt nor the downclimb to it. eventually took slightly longer but marginally-higher-confidence path to placement out left. rest of the climb was chill.

as single pitch. did a Dane and decided that following recommended gear was for the weak; didn't take into account gear lists being per pitch, nor the offwidth variant (clearly the nicer line). gear beta from climbers on next route gave me the confidence to try for the anchors instead of pitching it out. I'm sure being 5m above a tipped out unextended #4 in an insecure offwidth is good training for something

tried heading back in late arvo. trailhead ~6pm, started climbing 7:10pm, linked p1 and p2 as ~68m megapitch for daylight reasons, about 20min to lead each pitch. was slightly terrified in initial pinscars ('yes I'm aware that I'm now soloing') and blindly placing a #0.5 underfoot by feel. ran out everything that wasn't cruxy, drag wasn't too horrendous. scramble and talus in dark, at carpark 9:59pm. such a quality line, totally worth it

after trying to drive to glacier point apron and getting accidentally booted out of the valley loop after 1h45, long weekends are fun

fun afternoon ramble, mostly avoiding the storm. a bit spookgey in the humidity esp. the RH variant start

10d slab then slightly grotty 10b crack. bomber RP placements exist if you bring a nut tool to excavate them. between an RP and a #0.15 X4 (the offset isn't necessary, it's just my smallest cam) I wasn't stressed by the pro on the slab

enjoyable 3D climbing! hexes are your friend

so good, hard even after the offwidth, and so glad I pushed through and didn't sit despite burning calves. the Merlin would've been nice, but not having it just made the runout more exciting. not convinced about cams in bluies sandstone, and placed as much passive pro as my calves would let me. bring #0.4 or #0.5 to #3 with large nuts/small hexes

it was free so jumped on! so happy to get this after four months off. such a cool line, had to fight a bit, and quite sustained

position is awesome, climbing slightly less so

guess the way to get better at climbing cracks us to get on the sharp end

led runout p1 then swung simul-leads. passed several large slow parties; still very pleasant and atmospheric

tricky for the grade as with everything else here. got scared and stitched this up - there is decent gear to be found amongst all the rock that seems to want to come off

gear retrieval mission part 2. led p1 only - bulge was very exciting for a 5.8

led p1 and p3. slick and overcrowded, but some good bits. second sat on most pitches to (attempt to) retrieve booty
