Ascents by David Jefferson having Distinct route

Not often I get a KP onsight these days! Climbs nicer than it looks, though still quite dirty.

End of the day warm down.

Finally decided to give this line a try. Pretty ordinary rock at the start of the first pitch, but good positions on the upper arête. Worth doing once.

Nicer than the variant start.

This one surprised me. A few nice stemmy moves about halfway.

Well, I certainly never climbed anything quite like that before. Awesome!

Jugs for days

Finally went to check out the craglet up the hill from home. Didn’t expect much. Expectations were validated!

Daycare date day, second trimester top rope session.

Pretty nice climbing actually.

First route to have been put up at Paynes? Historic, and still good.

Super cruisy climb and it was fun to descend via Caves.

Fun bouldery crux

It was absolutely dumping down rain this arvo and this crag was one of the few viable options. While the routes are short and easy, they are also steep and juggy, so quite good fun actually.

Used to access the Eastern Seaboard.

Cool to finally check out the new local, which is a cruisy 3 minute bike ride from home. Not the biggest or baddest crag, but it can’t be beat for ease of access!

Thinkier than expected, with good rock. A quality line at the grade.

A bit weird, but amazing position over Lake Wakatipu.

Nice slabby crimping.

Onsight simulclimbed this with Josh, Andrew, and Nate today. Reached the top in about an hour. Could have been faster but ended up belaying at the top of the 7th pitch as we ran out of draws. Overall, a great addition to Tibro, especially given the mostly shady aspect (we started the climb at 10am and topped out at 11am).

Somewhat dodgy rock in places, but it’s nice and long at least.

Not bad for an access pitch.

Not a remarkable crag, but it was perfect for a family climb on the last day of my sister’s visit. One of the best views of any Port Hills crag.

The climbing is acceptable, the lack of an anchor, less so.

I had flashbacks of Kangaroo Point with every move 😛

With all the polish, jamBing the crack instead of laybacking is definitely the way to go!
