Ascents as sport by Francois Pieterse having Distinct route

I was really happy to have (finally) red-pointed this route, but I see now that I have already logged a red-point. I guess it's not a very memorable route.

After more than a year of dialing it in on toprope I finally lead it.

I toproped this quite a long time ago, poor memory and poor light made it feel almost like a flash instead of a redpoint. I'm very satisfied that I finally got around to doing this one properly.

Lead all the pitches. Relaxing day out. Scary part is coming down the tourist track.

I got the redpoint today after not hesitating on the middle move. Crux was wading through the knee-high layer of chalk left on each ledge by someone who was trying really hard. The climbing at the top is very good, but the rest of the route brings the overall to a 1 star.

I didn't make the first hard move on the first go, basically started over near the bottom and got the whole thing clean but not technically a redpoint.

Eventually got it clean on top rope.

Route was real filthy.

Finally lead it.

John's left hand undercling beta makes it much easier.

Easy traverse scared me so much it was harder than the crux.

Did it on top rope first. Crux is right at bolt, it was scarier going above the crux when leading because it is a little balancy.

Really long and consistent climbing. The overhanging bit at the top is pretty nice because it isn't hard at all and there are reasonably spaced bolts. The other run outs are pretty rough I think.

Easy climbing with a tough move at the top.

I did everything clean and then at the very top there was a wasp nest. I thought I was getting swarmed when I heard buzzing around my head and saw another wasp on my chest and jumped off. Luckily it was a pretty old nest with only two aging guards trying to remember the old days so when I carefully climbed up again I only found the abandoned nest, it could have been a lot less fun to retrieve my draws if it was breeding season.

Placed a yellow C4 to reduce the leadout

I'm hesitant to downgrade this because I onsighted but it's much easier than 21

The good right hand juglet at the end of the crux sequence appear to have broken off since last week, I'll have to find another project

Decided to lead it again to clean it.

It was way wet at the top so I moved right to the chains on Worm Hole

Very happy about this - been struggling with 15s at KP but finally ticking a reasonable grade again after moving to QLD :p

The route dried up later in the day and we could give it a go.

Got it on the second try. I think going right around the bulge is the way.

I didn't read the description properly and when I got to the anchors it was quite a shock to only have the two bolts sticking out.
