Ascents by Justin Case having Distinct route

Hardest trad climb yet! Was gonna try it on TR but was feeling pretty confident, even though I'd never done moves like that before (actually engaging a finger lock). It was extremely exciting and exhilirating to stick each crux. Slightly slabby twin finger cracks with a couple of delicate cruxes lead to the final part of Oak Tree Flake. As is usual with me, placed a lot of pro on this one! One of the best moments in Yosemite for sure. Happy that it came on the last day

Last day in Yosemite! We wanted to try Grant's Crack, so to set up a TR we went up this laybacky crack. Easy and scenic.

After a really cool day of bouldering, we figured there was still some room for trad left, so we headed to Swan Slab to try this good-looking line. A wide-ish laybacky crack leads to a delicate traverse into the same tree anchor of my first trad lead. Pretty enjoyable

Lead pitches 2 and 4, retreated after P4 because darkness was coming. An excellent first pitch! Intro to finger cracks, which came quite easily, especially with my versatile Scarpa Instincts. Leading this one would've been psychological! The rest of the pitches are also psychological, but less hard. Saw a lot of solo climbers climbing past us (over us) and over the rope. Extremely irresponsibly IMO. The chimney pitch is incredibly fun! Excellent views of the valley and side of El Cap

P1 of this was my first trad lead! Placed about 15 pieces of pro for 15m. All bomber if I do say so myself. Practiced it on TR placing gear once. P1 is fun, just a wide crack on a slab. For P2 you go on the left side of a groove through a crack on which Miguel used very little pro IMO, and P3 is this reversy-traversy middle-size crack on a slab, which was my first "pure" OS, where route-finding is essential. I also built my first anchor on a tree. Definitely exciting, different than sport.

Too many face climbing options I guess would make this a good intro trad lead? I think you can get away without jamming at all on this one

Jammy, know 'cause my jamming technique is terrible and got pumped on a 16 but cool jams, would be good to find something like this but way longer!

Scary for sure. Hung in there on the first attempt for about an hour only to fail on the last hard move! Definitely should stick clip the second bolt. Pumpfest solid for the grade!

Very nice route! First crack climb (but not lead) ever! Felt very good, definitely something I think I want to try again!

Cleaning draws and such... Nothing more than a warm up IMO...
