Grade Route Gear style Crag Quality Date
8 Sarah - with Angus M Trad 8m Clovelly Very Good Mon 13th Feb 2017
Climbed in desperate haste to avoid the 25 knot gale roaring up the descent gully and dark clouds foreboding disaster ... a mini tradventure of the finest!

8 Kedumba Gambit - with Angus M Trad 70m Blue Mountains Average Sun 12th Nov 2017
Big black juggy wall with more lichen to the left, slightly steeper but cleaner to the right. Good ironstone with easy angle and technicality, but probably too little pro for the modern ascentionist: take cams, slings and bolstered 'nads. Really only 2 pitches with good tree belays on ledges, run out the 2nd until the vegetated gully starts then walk up and off. Didn't see any bolts but slab is big enough to hide anything.

8 Chimney and Wall
2 8 24m Top rope

Short bit of OK corner then easy cruddy ramble to top.

8 Hocus Pocus - with Angus M, Peter Martland Mixed trad 49m, 15 Blue Mountains Classic Mon 24th Apr 2017
First route I ever lead in the Bluies circa 1977 when my mate forced me to lead the 1st pitch past the fixed peg and steparound. I don't recall feeling any fear. Unlike today, despite the veritable hail of bolts on every ledge!

8 Beginner's Climb - with Angus M Trad 12m Wondabyne Average Sat 24th Sep 2016
40th anniversary ascent, 1976 - 2016, though I might have done it in '77. Shabongwa!

8 Ferney Groove's Revenge Trad 29m Blue Mountains Don't Bother Sun 19th Jun 2022
Thrutch through the ferns and dirt, but protectable if you really wanted to lead.

8 Aquarius Trad 30m Blue Mountains Good Sun 30th Aug 2020
Just looking at it made me feel bad, but forced myself to make the most of the 50 year celebrations. And wonders, despite blood flowing from a puncture or laceration on the way down, actually enjoyed the enterprise. Perhaps even more surprising, there were placements to be had. That said, probably more 14 than 8, but who knows how to grade chimneys these days? Could be time to start grading.

Trad 52m Blue Mountains Very Good Mon 12th Dec 2016
As easy as one should expect of this grade. P1 only.

8 Hair Trad 50m Blue Mountains Average Sat 20th Jun 2020
Despite rightward re-routing of the thin white line I found myself finishing in the same place so can't really claim an ascent of Megalomaniac ... sigh

No sign of bolts or pitons either, although perhaps the trad-coloured spectacles were too focussed.

8 Kindy Corner - with Angus M Trad 8m Galston Gorge Average Sun 27th May 2018
Average.

8 Gibson - with Angus M Trad 6m Wondabyne Good Sat 24th Sep 2016
The Acolyte's first trad lead. Those new Friends are so good!

8 Corner Chimney - with haily Trad 8m Wahroonga Rocks Average Mon 8th Apr 2024
Managed to avoid the wet right wall by 'powering' up the middle block: jambs ahoy! And bravo to Haily for leading the nano tradventure.
