Ascents as sport by Marco de Jongh having Distinct route

2nd 24 🎉, but certainly much harder than my first.

But what a fun journey this was, it felt hard but doable first time I got on it and then I spent the next 3 sessions thinking I'd get it next time but still having to learn more. Today it felt so dialed I nearly send it while putting the draws on.

Wore long pants today and it went! What a route! Definitely a bipolar send, I fucking hated this thing so much the first day on, now I think it's the best route ever.

First 24 🥳. Felt much less spoogy than last time, allowing me to skip a lot of the moves I did in my original beta making it feel a lot easier. Probably soft 24 in conditions like today but I'll take it

Tried this a year ago felt really close but had weird dyno-y beta for the first crux, cool to come back and year later and send it the regular way

Top roped it to get the draws off, this time I cruised the whole first roof section, wasnt overheating at all, and could finally try the steep finish.

Now I regret taking the draws off, maybe they go back up tomorrow 🫣

Can see what the fuss is about, very classy route

4 goes today, middle beta now a lot better and doesn't involve a crazy 50-50 throw to a far away crimp anymore. Sprained my mcl a little doing silly things with heelhooks, hopefully can get this done next week.

Gabbys 2nd 24. I couldn't do the crux in the sun

Got a new highpoint on my 2nd go, but rushed into the final crux and came off. Then couldn't get the draws off on my 3rd go after the rain due to the slippery crack now being even more slippery.

A reluctant & cold Gabby was sent up, and despite the rain she managed to hold on to the anchors getting her first 7a+ send

3 stars but not as good as offender. Couldnt find the dynamic crux?

Could figure out the moves pretty quickly, but then whipped off very excitingly before clipping the 4th bolt until giving myself a flapper of epic proportions

2 goes working out the moves, the handjam crux is really cool, top crux is a dyno which might be a bad idea

Just checking out the moves, the dyno is fun, gabby went for the static beta which didnt look too hard either.

Need to remember to get that damn heelhook out BEFORE going for the crimp rail, next time Im back and have forgotten all my beta 😅

5(?) years ago Eugene told me this is the best 24 in the mtns, took me this long to work up the courage to try it. He wasn't wrong, I wasn't disappointed!

Could never relate to people telling me they cried on a route until I climbed "heaven can wait" and came damn close to crying. 1000 star type II fun because no hold is like it seems, hope I can project it this winter

Climbed to the third bolt, then the 7a freed up, so decided to back clean this. Its a bit of a maze of randomly chalked up blobs and hard to read where to go

Dry fired off down low getting a pretty bad cut in my pinky, routes sharp the whole way up, especially the finish, ended up clip sticking myself to the anchor

Could link to the 3rd bolt but dios mio this thing is burly. Maybe a bit of a sandbag

Really struggled, maybe should not try and warm up on 24s 😬
