Call for climbing photos / TCI

theCrag supports The Climbing Initiative, TCI in its efforts. Amongst it is the creation of a best practices document for route naming.

For the illustration of the best practices document TCI is looking for climbing

Does the name have to linked to the physical features of the climb - i.e. name + photo illustrating why it is named so? Or just a photo of a random climb with an interesting name?

If going towards the former, here is a nice photo of young Alec on the

Climbing in Malta and Uk

Hello climbers  I am Lili. Living in London and rock climbing around Europe. If you visit let's climb together.

I am climbing in Malta between 8th and 17th if anyone is around?

Alex Squirrel replied 6 months ago.

Hi Lili, is this still valid? I am making plans for a climbing trip late June/first half of July in UK/Europe. Thinking Luxembourg, Germany, France, but open to options. Still looking for a partner? I'm around 6a, 60kg, climbing 1-2 a week for past 2 years

Liliana Costa replied 6 months ago.

Hi Alex, always! However I am in Brazil returning to London on the 5th June...yes , lots of peak district climbs planned. Last 2 weeks July I am in Portugal if you fancy?

Alex Squirrel replied 6 months ago.

Great. I'm not available second half of July, but perhaps the first half in the UK, Peak District. Will let you know when plans firm up.

Liliana Costa replied 5 months ago.

Sounds like a plan

Alex Squirrel replied 3 months ago.

Hi Lili, I'm going to be in the Peak District during September. Do you want to climb?

Liliana Costa replied 11 weeks ago.

Hi Alex, just saw this. Are you in UK already? I am still in Portugal but let me know until when you there ...would love to

Vitus Pirchner replied 10 weeks ago.

I have to climb there 😜😜

Liliana Costa replied 10 weeks ago.

You do! I had to pop in to Portugal for family. But back on 29th Sept. Ok than I leave for red rock in vegas on the 7th october 😞

Vitus Drums replied 10 weeks ago.

Wow Red Rocks 🤘

Alex Squirrel replied 10 weeks ago.

Ah, I'm leaving the Peaks before you arrive and coming back after you'll have left. Just missing out!

Liliana Costa replied 9 weeks ago.

Bloody hell. It will work out at some point ahahahah I am determined to climb with you somewhere now, at some point Alex

Alex Squirrel replied 9 weeks ago.

We are going to make this happen! You'll find we end up climbing together in the Mediterranean or something, but it will happen!

Hi! I will be in Switzerland April - mid July and am looking for climbing partners. I’ll be based in the Vallis but can travel by train to other areas. I’m also open to climbing in other parts of Europe. I’m looking to climb everything from sport to alpine

Hi Anouk Erni, welcome to Europe! 10s of UIAA or French or another grading system? 🙂

Anouk Erni replied 8 months ago.

Hi Georg, Sorry about that - 10s would correspond to French grades of 6a to 6b+.

GeorgD replied 8 months ago.

No worries 🙂 Reading these grades, you'd likely be bored to climb with me and my mates as we're fighting gravity only up to French 5c on good days.

April is in many areas still too cold & snowy to climb – best is south facing dark rock at low altitude.

Anouk Erni replied 8 months ago.

When I first get over there in April I will most likely be climbing in the 5b/c range 70% of the time, since I haven’t climbed at all this winter and am retraining my shoulder after a surgery from last fall. I have climbed in Punte Brolla before and would

Hi Anouk, how are you set for late June/first half of July. I am making plans for a climbing trip and Switzerland is amazing. Still looking for a partner? I'm around 6a, 60kg, climbing 1-2 a week for past 2 years indoor and outdoor, would want to camp.

Alexandru Ionita replied 6 months ago.

Hi! I will also be in Switzerland starting with mid-june I plan to do sport routes in the range 6a-7a, and also some easier multi-pitch/alpine (I don't know for sure). I am thinking of doing this:

Alex Squirrel replied 6 months ago.

That looks absolutely fantastic. I won't be able to climb 7a, but can belay. That's not much use on a multi-pitch of course, but if you're happy to do multi-pitch on lighter grades and sports climbing on individual climbs then that's cool.
