Ascents of Skidrow

Climbed as 2 pitches. I am still not a good jammer so the bottom half, pitch 1, was a pathetic hang dog effort.

Pitch 2 went clean and involved two amazing traverse sequences that thrilled and delighted me but unfortunately terrified the seconder, who hates that stuff. A good day for exposure therapy.

Did it in two pitches. The first pitch was mediocre in my opinion, with very insecure jamming, and I fell twice. The second pitch though was excellent, and the climb deserves two stars for that pitch alone. I particularly enjoyed the imaginary toe cam that somehow works so well.

Tricky crack size

Probably would of went down on the second shot but didn't have time.

Bailed in the wide crack after the traverse. Wasn't really sure how to protect it without big gear. The traverse above the ledge feels scary. I expect it has claimed some ankle bones. Finger crack at the start is cool.

The traverse into the second crack is defin8tely the highlight.

Slid right out of the initial crack, really fun climbing

Glad I know how to jam. Great to place some gear.

Stiff for the grade. Maybe a touch overrated, but cool moves on the hand traverse.

Hard start. So fun after that.

Seconded a while back and found hard but leading this time I'd say it was fair for the grade. Best bit is the traverse.

Bloody oath, this is a bit full-on for an 18. Started via Short and Sweet and finished via this climb. I didn't have any big gear so the offwidth finale (comparatively easy) was rather exciting. Worthwhile and better than it looks. But tough at the grade.

Onsight, but just! First climb after 2 months of sedentary inactivity, and the first 10 metres were full value.

Tricky thin initial hand crack spat me out, and committing traverse half way up for a short ass like myself. Cruisy on after with some good jamming.

Easy on second try.

Fell out of the first crack section.

Found the start very insecure and strenuous , thin, steep flared crack which I'd guess at 19/20, after that very nice moves around the corner arête, smear and reach round the blind corner for good holds then move up the widening crack to offwidth with a few welcome chockstones in deep. All up an great climb and a brave lead

Climbed the first half to access the offwidth above. Underestimated this. The jams are thin, flared and tricky.

Followed Phil up the second half of this after walking around to the ledge. Not great. Might be better if linked with the first half, which was seeping and covered in green slime.
