Ascents of Fiddlesticks

Beautiful and classic! What an intro to the pipes. But Em and I only did pitch 1 as it was her 're-introduction' to trad multi-pitch after a long hiatus, and pitch 1 delivered enough adrenalin, after which we were happy to come down, haha... Looking forward to come back to do the top pitch.

One of the best trad days of my time here, we started at about 4pm after some stressful scrambling to get up there, as we ascended we got to see the city in day, then in sunset, then in the night as the last of the light escaped topping out. Fun 50m rappel in the dark was adventurous, thankfully we both had our head torches. Such a beautiful area and a wonderful day out climbing! HB Liz

First spice girls trad adventure🥹so so scary (I’m definitely not used to the height or exposure yet!!) but sooo amazing! Taking out gear is kind of fun! Although perhaps not for cams that have walked and take an hour to retrieve, but Slabby saved the day!! Also made me realise exactly how impressive trad leading is (and the people who do it eg. Spicy!). To me the climbing felt harder than it objectively was (except some of the body chimneying, like the top of the 2nd pitch, which actually felt hard!) because of the cool 3d movement and exposure! The step-across on the second pitch felt like a particularly epic move! I hadn’t abseiled in ages but it was thankfully less scary than I remembered, maybe because of the tin whistle serenading?

Awesome day on such a fun route with the spice girls for my first multi pitch! Epic struggle with a stuck cam on p1 was the real crux

Well this was a fun reintroduction to trad! Loved the loose blocks and the amazing views and exposure on pitch two. Good fun

Seconded this a while back, good fun and protects well. Belay off ledge seems much nicer than the tree

Quite a pleasant and easy climb. Started pouring rain on our abseil.

Taking oscar on his first multi-pitch outing, and finally got to do the second pitch without snow or a traffic jam. 2nd is definitely the money pitch, absolutely incredible!

Fantastic route! Very lucky that there is something so epic that goes at the grade - perfect to take beginners for a memorable outing. Route is well protected on just a single rack. A few loose rocks in the back of the chimney in a couple of places. Rap down is also breathtaking.

felt uneasy on flaky dolerite. picked up loose rock and didn't know where to put it so chucked it in my chalk bag. rested for a chance to defrost my fingers. thankfully flange was protected by the wind

Wet lap after weird rain mist thwarted other plans. Somewhat slippery. Somewhat classic

Michael's first multi pitch, thought he better do a classic. Climbed well even with the broken / bruised rib!

Arapiles has really dialled in my anchor building skills and pro placement, knocked it out in record time.

Jamming, stemming, laybacks and face climbing in a single pitch. Some larger cams (#4) were useful. Fun adventure
