Summary

Seaside bouldering

Description

Seaside bouldering

Access issues inherited from Crowdy Bay

The area is in Crowdy Bay National Park so the usual sensitivities apply. Keep a low profile, and clean up after yourselves.

Approach

Follow the coast south for about 200m past the boat hole to get to the first of the boulders.

Ethic inherited from Diamond Head

Being a National Park a Trad first approach is preferred. That being said bolting for anchors at the top would really improve safety.

Straight up the block with the crack.

Sit start obvious crack line R of DH

Sit start base of obvious line to the L of URU.

Warning Rock: Potential loose rock

Note: needs a tide lower than 1.3m

Sit start obvious line R of URU.

Up the flat blade using only the side and holds on the blade. Or VB when using everything. Probably better not to top out...

100m further in small boat hole

Warning Rock: Unstable

Bit desperate and only possible at tide below 1.3m

There might be a few more boulders to be had just around the corner from Thick Head, but this is not accessible when tide is higher than 1m. The cliffs further to the South of here are yet to be explored. Access is possible by turning left off the Mermaid walking track 80m before the lookout or turning right just before the lookout.
