Did you know?

Did you know that you can create an account to record, track and share your climbing ascents? Thousands of climbers are already doing this.

Description

The Mägdeberg is one of the Hegauberge and is located in the district of the municipality of Mühlhausen-Ehingen. On the summit there is the ruin of the castle Mägdeberg. The rock is volcanic (Phonolith and Natrolith).

A printed guide book can be ordered on klettern-maegdeberg.de. The digital version is available via the online service enziano.com

Access issues

The crag is located in a nature conservation area. Please respect that and follow the rules.

Approach

Park at the parking space on the pass between Duchtlingen and Mülhausen-Ehingen. From there in 5 minutes to the rock. Follow the path on the left around the hill.

Ethic

Re-bolting and addition of bolts to existing routes are problematic. The current protection is aligned with the placements the first climbers and route setters used originally. Therefore a lot of the first bolts are very high and a fall may cause serious injuries.

It is rumoured that there were attempts to improve protection but the bolts were removed by the old school climbers.

So either be brave and strong or use easier routes to set up a top rope.
