Ascents in Bukit Takun

We were trying to climb Make Takun Great Again, but couldn't find the line properly so had to send up this 6c which is way above our climbing grade of comfort. We linked pitch 2 and 3 together on the rappel. Rappel is not straight forward, took a lot of effort to get to the anchors as the climb kind of snakes around. Full sun on the route till about 12. Then it's in the shade.

Classic multipitch. Pitch 3 is definitely the money pitch with amazing view

Beautiful problem. Crack climbing with beta intensive (knee bar, foot jams undercling and hidden pockets) physical P1, eases off after P2 and P3 (quite a fun sequence of tiny exposed climbing).

Memorable pitch 3 - physical moves on good jugs. Beware of chossy holds. Pitch 5 is scary due to the sharp holds and smearing required. Good fun with distinct styles for each pitch.

p1 - went to rap station 5o'clock of anchor (shared w rock root). Should go to rock root. Hand jammed on crux!! Feels 6a.

p2 - natural line up glossy holds followed by rather sketchy right traverse. Anchors around the corner. Follow bolt line. Feels 6a+ / 6b. Esp. the traverse.

p3 - starting on stalactites (how to spell? lol) on left of pitch 2 anchors, follow bolt line up. Some bolts have surface rust but should be fine. Felt like short and physical 6a, but aik says it's a lil harder.

p4 - features exactly one bolt! Will need trad gear, around BD size 0.5 - 2 cams. The start has no bolt line, so we took the middle crack up over the overhanging block (might want to look out for loose blocks). Afterwards, there's an obvious (rather pretty) crack line (w 1 bolts) to a ledge, from where you'll spot the anchors. Lots of fun (but lil sharp) hand jams!!

Rap stations were well placed. Slight swinging as usual. We ended at p4 because it looked like ugly jungleneering from there onwards.

4 pitches to avoid rope drag. Sketchy moves, polished footholds. Fun first pitch with a scary foot plant move just before the anchor.

A good starters multipitch. Will recommend to new multipitchers.

Used a knee bar beta on the crux! So stoked to tick this off, finally

pitch 5, 5b+ is sandbag.

Combined with mediocracy (pitch 1) for an easier fun climb.

Went on mediocracy for pitch 4, before swinging back out on 4th clip. Original dihedral line seems to have a hornet nest of sorts?

The traversing nature of pitch 1,2, and 4 were classic.

Went the wrong direction on second rap (ending up on pitch 4). Had to jug back up. Stay on the correct side of the tree.

Amazing 200m climb. Perfect for training long multipitches with fairly decent pitches.
