Summary

Probably the best climbing area in Jalisco. High quality basalt rock with great features in a beautiful setting. The only disadvantage is the morning sun that heats up the rock.

Description

Crimps, cracks, pockets - all on super high quality rock. Long routes (up to 40m) and an easy approach make this an excellent crag. Be aware that the morning sun warms up the rock - bring loads of chalk ;-).

Approach

Drive north from Guadalajara on road 23 in direction of San Cristóbal de la Barranca. When you see the sign for Huilotán and San Lorenzo take a right. After about 2km the rock on the right turns almost pink. Park at a pull-out on the left and look for stairs and a ladder going up to a nice trail that leads you almost flat right to the cliff.

Where to stay

You may camp (and swim) in the Parque Ecologico Huilotán, just a few minutes drive away from the crag.
