Routes in Te Waipounamu / The South Island for selected grade

Climb up the right arête with small smeary feet to a double glue in bolt anchor.

Middle sport route on the largest wall in the bay. Very cool climbing.

Starts at WJ belay and trends left.

Up the centre of the wall.

The left-hand side of Peter Rabbit Discovers Drugs is a tree running up along the face. This climb is immediately left of this tree

This first of a series of overhung, boulder-like sport climbs the Fortress hosts. On the South-Eastern tip and the furthest left in the overhang is Moorepork Pie

Used to be a fairly dodgy trad route, now fully bolted for your pleasure. Climb the corner with the wide crack all the way to the top of the headwall.

Starts up grey pillar in center of wall, drifting rightwards. Sustained crimps.

Arete on right side of the tower that faces Marina. Starts just next to the Cosmic Wunder-Krunch wall

Climb up 'steps' just to right of tower (bolts on tower) until passing the mud/clay layer. Switch across to tower and follow aréte to the top. Fantastic route, would be three stars but for some loose rock. There is a small sign at base.

The only climb going up the Tower. Follow arete.

Now called "Status Anxiety". Supercedes Cracking up. Diagonal left leaning crack and ramp on left of the overhanging wall. Was originally a natural pro route but now bolted (with permission) and extended to give an out there expedition.

Starts under the over hang then follow the crack. Left to Who ate all the pies.

Start on crimps left to Chastity Belt up two bolts, then straight up on cruisy terrain. For easier start/mileage, try the left variant, start on the big flakey slab then it joins at the third bolt to the original route.

Damaged during the earthquakes.

Thin crack a metre right of the arete. Medium cams useful to protect an easy runout above the last bolt.

4 bolts up wall to shared anchor with TMPP.

A wide crack around the arete, left of the bushes.

A couple of metres left of the arete. Originally soloed, so probably has no pro.

Start on right side of rubble pile, up the right side of the quake scar.

Right side of grassy gully, up a cracked wall.

Start at the left side of a vegetated corner.

Just right of Kerry's Climb, and shares anchors with it.

Use the first two bolts on ‘Sourdough on the Side’ then cross leftwards past the line of ‘The Unclimbed Crack’ onto the slab and corner.

Nice line with small holds, starting from a small ledge. Crux is getting past the 2nd bolt. Follow thin crack to DBA.

Climb the corner just right of an undercut arête.

The right-facing corner a metre right of The Big Lebowski. A bold start on good rock to gain the crack is followed by easier climbing, with a steeper finish up the crack to TBL's anchors. Natural gear.

Climb just right of the arete.

Start at the lowest point of the slab, 2m left of the corner. Can share anchor with Bury the Brass, the 17 to the left, for sport climbing.
