You will need to be a bit organised to climb at Shawthing Rock… Ring/text at least a day before to book in (not after 9pm please), it’s a working farm; there may be hazards to tell you about.

• Probably closed in the wet winter months.

• No dogs, no shooting. The normal stuff!

• Follow the leave no trace guide- so take all your rubbish (Including biodegradable) out with you.

Grade Route

Good pro. This route was first done ground up. If you don't use the bush at half way, it's probably a 19. A big cam a 4 or 5 I don't remember! is needed at the top. Double bolt and chain, maillon rapide Anchor.

The left hand arete. Be careful not to barn door off! Has a pull cord from the top for top roping. The 2nd to last bolt is a bit high, you may want to pre clip if it's at your limit. One day someone may move it or add a foot of chain! Or use a high clip trickey gadget. DBCMr.
