Ae-bawi 애바위 stands tall and overlooks the captivating coastline of the south sea. It was developed in 2001 and is located on Geoje Island. It is granite rock of mostly multi- pitch routes with face climbing on the first pitches and slight overhangs on the second pitches. The longest route is 62m and the crag faces southeast.
From Jangseungpo 장승포, take the bus to Youn Dol 윤돌. It will stop at the Mangchi Samgeori 망치 삼거리 three-way intersection, between Gujora Beach 구조라 해수욕 장 and Mangchi Beach 망치 해수욕장. From there, take the north road that leads up to the mountain for forty minutes and there will be a sign to your le , located on the top of a hill, that says “황제의길” Hwangjeeuigil.There will also be a small open area for car parking. Look for a white arrow mark in this area, labeled “애바위” Ae-bawi. Following the arrow, hike past the open area and up the trail for fifteen minutes. Ae- bawi will be on the left side of the trail. For an alternate route, exit at Mangchi 망치 Bus Stop, which is three stops a er Youn Dol 윤돌. 400m southwest from the bus stop is a pension house called “박하향기” Bakhahyanggi.There is a trail on the south side of the house. Follow this trail for forty minutes up to the crag, which will be on your right side.
Gear 16 draws and a 50m rope. Safety The bolts and anchors have been well maintained. However, some of the rock is loose so a helmet is recommended. Additional Comments The view from the crag overlooking the ocean is amazing and there are many campsites around the crag that offer a great stay.
