Ascents in Short Cliffs

This climb gets better the more you climb it. The lieback finish is still difficult though.

Finally got the left leg footwork down and can run thru this climb in under 4 minutes. Really great off-width.

Did a second lap In order to clean the rope I had set on the anchors to the right for Big Fat Crack.

What a fun route. Solid hand jam for larger hands like mine!

Did this route to the anchors on the right this time. These are probably thecorrect anchors, though the aunt fannie anchors also work for this route. Unfortunately the anchors to the right are impossible to reach from the cliff top to set a toprope for a rope solo. I was able to set the anchor to the right by raping down from Aunt Fannie and then traversing over to the lower anchors. Finishing to these anchors is in my opinion the better line, and supports leading with ample protection opportunities. What a great climb this is. Cant wait to lead it

Great short hand crack which transitions quickly to a much wider crack at midway up to a ledge. Easier climbing to the anchors. Stellar climb to hone your wide crack techniques. Super fun. Works well with either the Aunt Fannie/Buster Bronco anchors or the anchors for Lie-back Crack to the right.

Got a good forty degree day with partial sun today and no snow, so i got out to the short cliffs and did some laps.

Great crack climbing to the big ledge. I had a hard time getting up the finger crack to the anchors because my fingerswere too big.

Really nice route with very engaging movement for the whole climb. The whole route is sustained at 5.8 but the crux moves at the bulge probably push the grade to 5.9- in my opinion. I did not use any gear because i did the route as a top rope solo but there seemed to be plenty of opportunities for small gear up to a #1.

Definite 5.9 crux in the middle of this climb. Smaller fingers than mine might have an easier time with the crux than i did. A couple of thin Finger nail flakes help you out once you give up on the Using crack. The finger crack Does get better through the next section though. The finish to the anchors is actually juggy.

Good chimney moves. Pretty secure even as the chimney widened. I used newer anchors and chains higher up on the right face because the more obvious anchors on the left side looked old and very rusty. Did this as a two rope solo with petzl micro traxion on one rope and petzl rescuesender on the other rope.

Good route to warm up before the nearby trad leadS.

This climb Required a fair amount of route finding skills especially at the roof section so i would consider it a bit harder as a trad lead than 5.6. Really a fun trad lead.

that crux hold at the top really is a bunch of boloney...

Didn't top it, but made great efforts to! Set toprope from above...
